Position Summary:

As the Chief Estimator, you will work hand-in-hand with company leadership and the existing team to improve and mechanize systems. You will be responsible for leading the estimating team and providing accurate and timely cost estimates for various projects. You will collaborate closely with various team members and other stakeholders to ensure competitive and profitable bids. Your expertise will be crucial in analyzing project requirements, identifying potential risks, and recommending cost-effective solutions to meet client needs while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.

Essential Functions:

Oversees the estimation team. Duties include performance evaluation and management, training and coaching, and providing guidance to ensure a cohesive and high-performing team.

Thoroughly reviews project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to understand project scope, timelines, and specific requirements. Prepares accurate and comprehensive cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, permits, and other project-related expenses.

Develops detailed and competitive bids, ensuring compliance with client requirements and industry standards. Reviews other estimators bids to ensure bids are competitive. Presents estimates, bids, and proposals to clients and identified stakeholders, addresses inquiries, and negotiates terms as needed.

Maintains strong relationships with suppliers/vendors, contractors/subcontractors, and industry partners to obtain competitive pricing and enhance project delivery.

Identifies potential project risks and provides risk analysis, offering effective mitigation strategies. Conducts post-project analysis to review project performance against estimated costs, identifying areas for improvement.

Stays informed about industry trends, technology advancements, and best practices in estimating. Recommends improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Ensures all estimates, bids, and proposals comply with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company policies.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree, required. Preferred areas of study include civil engineering, construction management, or other related fields.

Professional Civil Engineering License, preferred

10 years of proven experience as an estimator, required 15 years, preferred

5-7 years of supervisory experience, required

Experience in a civil road construction environment, preferred.

Excellent knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry pricing.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Proficiency in estimation software and tools. Experience with Bluebeam and Rapid Plan software, preferred.

Exceptional analytical and organizational skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, contractors, and vendors.

Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Familiarity with safety regulations and industry best practices.

Salary & Benefits:
