Job DescriptionA well-established independent oilfield services company is looking for a highly skilled Weiler Machinist to perform the setup and operation of manual machinery (Weiler) to prepare metallic and non-metallic parts required in the production of inflatable packers and downhole tools or other products. The ideal candidate is a Weiler machines expert knowledgeable of API oilfield tapered threading. Working collaboratively, the new member will positively impact the business by performing job functions with accuracy & efficiency while maintaining compliance with quality & safety standards. Salary + Additional Benefits: $26-30/hr Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Location: Houston, TX 77092 Shift: 6am - 2:30pm Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire Responsibilities: Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of part/product, sequence of operations, and/or set up requirements. Identify, produce, and gauge a variety of straight and taper threads, including Acme and buttress. Measure, mark, and otherwise indicate the dimensions and reference points on the part or material to be used as guides for subsequent machining. Select, align, and secure the holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines to include mills, lathes, and grinders. Calculate and set controls to regulate various machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut. Start and observe machine operation to detect any malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust the machine controls or control media as necessary. Verify conformance of finished part to ensure that it meets specifications. Confer with production personnel, engineers, or others to resolve machining or assembly issues. Perform daily maintenance duties and/or notify supervisor of any equipment-related issues that may require attention. Maintain clean and orderly work area. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Requirements: 1 year certificate from a college or technical school with a minimum of three (3) years running Weiler machines Minimum five (5) years of work experience in lieu of certificate running Weiler machines is acceptable Must be able to accurately program and set up machine tools within Weiler Sinumerik operating system Must have API oilfield tapered threading experience (Buttress, IF, 8 round, etc.) as well as experience cutting Acme, Stub Acme, and other straight and tapered threads Ability to read and understand engineering drawings as they pertain to machining of inflatable packers or related downhole tools Must have own tools adequate to perform job Must have proven past knowledge of Weiler machines Ability to work under a minimum of supervision Ability to enhance engineering drawings as they pertain to machining Ability to utilize precision measuring tools and instrument to verify specifications Knowledge of the practical application of engineering and science, properties of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques of maximizing effective manufacturing of goods Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to write and/or complete routine reports Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as angles, lengths, diameters in decimals and fractions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Due to the high volume of applications we typically receive, we regret that we are not able to personally respond to all applications.
