Our client is seeking a Controller for a contract opportunity. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Controller oversees the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, which includes accounting and financial reporting. This position provides financial insight and guidance to the leadership team and works closely with the CFO to ensure strategic initiatives and operational directives are met. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong financial acumen, exceptional leadership and analytical skills.

Responsibilities under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer:Plan, organize, and implement policies, procedures and internal controls to effectively manage all aspects of accounts payable, payroll, the general ledger, cash and cash management, and billing of grants and contracts in accordance with accepted accounting and auditing standards.
Identify and assess financial risks, develop risk mitigation strategies, and implement controls to safeguard the organization’s assets.
Oversee the annual audit process to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and industry-specific regulations.
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, to include oversight of month-end and year-end close processes and compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
Prepare financial statements, forecasting models, analyses, and ad-hoc reports for operational leadership to support critical decision-making.
Manages billing, reporting, and reconciliations related to various grants and contracts.
Proactively partner with the CFO, other vice presidents and the executive leadership team to develop and execute long-term financial plans.
Support CFO where possible in CFO’s absence.
Provide strategic leadership and guidance to senior management on financial matters including reviewing and analyzing data, trends, and reports to identify areas of improvement, revenue opportunities and cost reductions.
Lead and mentor the finance team, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development. The Assistant Controller who oversee a staff of three reports to the Controller.
Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field required.
Healthcare and Non-Profit experience needed
5+ years of leadership experience in finance/administration effectively leading teams.
5+ years of experience with strategic planning and working with multi-disciplinary teams on goal execution.
5+ years of experience with managing large volumes of grants and contracts.
Strong understanding of healthcare billing, especially with Medicaid.
Experience with alternative payment models in healthcare including prospective payment systems.
Extensive experience in financial statement preparation and financial analysis with the ability to effectively interpret and communicate data across all levels of an organization.
Very strong Excel skills; openly embraces the use of technology to solve problems.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong understanding of GAAP and their application to internal accounting practices and procedures, with payroll, audit, and tax requirements as they relate to non-profits.
Experience with non-profit auditing standards.
Is highly adaptable to change and uses change as an opportunity for innovation and creativity
Takes ownership of problems, has ability to brainstorm different problem resolutions, uses sound judgment in selecting solutions to problems, and demonstrates consistent follow through
Provides leadership from a position of engagement, collaboration and teamwork, influence and trust, a sense of accountability and urgency and the ability to execute with a high level of personal integrity.
