Halff has an opening for Roadway Engineer, with their Texas EIT Certification or Texas PE License, to join our growing Roadway / Transportation group based out of our Tyler, TX office. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 3 years of civil engineering experience with a focus in roadway / transportation in the consulting industry and/or experience working with, or for, public sector clients. The successful candidate should have experience working as part of a multi-discipline planning and design team, coordinating with clients and leading delivery of roadway / transportation planning and/or design projects. This role will allow you the opportunity to be trained and mentored by an experienced Roadway / Transportation Engineer and to gain ever increasing professional responsibility. Roadway Engineer (EIT / PE) - TxDOT Transportation PS&E / Schematic Design Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Works under a Transportation Team Leader in the development of roadway design projects both for Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) and Schematic Design
  • Works closely with other design staff, consultants, and clients to deliver projects that contribute to the growth and safety of Texas roadways
  • Works on multiple transportation projects and tasks in support of business needs
  • Assists in managing the workload of design staff including other Engineers, EIT's, and technical staff
  • Works with the Transportation Team Leader and Operations Manager in business development activities
  • Assists in development and management of project scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Reviews transportation designs and detailed plans for accuracy and consistency
Roadway Engineer (EIT / PE) - TxDOT Transportation PS&E / Schematic Design Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree
  • A minimum of 3 to 7 years of experience in Roadway / Transportation Engineering
  • Microstation experience; Geopak/OpenRoads 3D is a plus
  • DOT experience (as an DOT employee or consultant) is a preferred
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification or Professional Engineer (PE) License in Texas, or able and willing to obtain within 1 year of start date
  • Ability to manage a project tasks
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
