Welder Fitter

Job Title: Welder FitterJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Welder for our 1st shift (6am to 4:30pm) Monday - Friday and most Saturdays. The role involves heavy plate welding, specifically 1\" and 3\" steel with MIG and Flux Core welding. Responsibilities include repairing steel mill and metal foundry equipment, often involving big tables and base plate welding. This individual will read and interpret blueprints, perform the initial fit-up of welded assemblies, and communicate directly with engineering as required. Proficient use of a fork truck and pendent-controlled overhead crane is essential. The role offers a pay range of $20-25 per hour, depending on weld certification and ability.Hard SkillsHeavy plate welding (1\" and 3\" steel with Flux Core welding)Reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints (detail and assembly)Proficient use of micrometers and precision measuring instrumentsOperating overhead cranes (up to 50T capacity)Operating fork truck and manliftSoft SkillsAbility to work with minimal supervisionStrong communication skills with engineeringJob TypeThis is a permanent/direct-hire position.Work EnvironmentThe work environment includes a 9-acre facility with over 100,000 square feet under the roof, 34 overhead and jib cranes, and various machinery including press brakes, straightening presses, saws, welding positioners, and horizontal boring mills. The machine shop has a 40-ton crane capacity, the fabrication shop has a 65-ton crane capacity, and the assembly shop has a 100-ton crane capacity.
