As the Senior Energy Trading Contracts Analyst your duties will span the full gambit of topics relevant to facilitating the trading of physically and financially settled commodity transactions in North America. Your initial focus will be on the natural gas market in the Northeast U.S., but coverage will quickly expand to encapsulate a broad suite of tradeable instruments across multiple deregulated North American wholesale energy markets. You will play a key role in the review, negotiation, and ongoing administration of contractual documents with counterparties. You will assist the Commercial area in mitigating risks by collaborating with the Legal department, Credit, Compliance, etc.

Responsibilities:
  • Review, draft, negotiate contractual documentation for the purchase and sale of physically and financially settled natural gas products (including, NAESBs, ISDAs, pipeline transport and storage agreements, confirmations)
  • Review, draft, negotiate confidentiality agreements, broker agreements, amendments, assignments, and any other kinds of agreements as needed.
  • Verify compliance with internal guidelines and best practices.
  • Review the General Terms and Conditions, contracts and documents used by the business to identify and mitigate risks. Offer advice to stakeholder groups as needed.
  • Advise traders and other stakeholder groups on the structuring of new business opportunities as needed.
  • Maintain counterparty and contracts details in our trading platform.
  • Maintain contract database in accordance with the Company document retention policy.
  • Add value through continuous improvement processes, procedures, and tools.
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate degree / Paralegal certificate.
  • Specific experience in the energy sector (5+ years), having had exposure to the legal structuring of both physical and financial transactions in natural gas traded instruments (via exchange and OTC).
  • Solid understanding and experience negotiating trade agreements including ISDAs and NAESBs.
  • Used to advising stakeholders on eye-level, do not shy away from conflict and confident to defend your position also when challenged.
  • Exceptional communication skills and proven collaborative, relationship management skills.
  • Self-motivated, pragmatic, and confident working independently and effectively managing a broad range of complex tasks also under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in financial and physical power trading in ERCOT and PJM.
  • Experience with working in Allegro or similar ETRM software.
  • Experience with implementing contract management software.
  • Juris Doctorate
