MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

* Project Management: Independently plans and conducts assigned projects. Manages multiple & often concurrent projects and meets deadlines.

* Acts independently under only consultative direction. Works with a wide degree of latitude to plan conduct and direct projects. Acts as a lead person or technical expert on complex projects.

* Technical: Applies advanced technical knowledge/skills to EHS programs and systems. Benchmarks internally and externally. Communicates across functions and disciplines. Recognized as an authority in their discipline(s). Extensive knowledge of related disciplines. Develops solutions to unusually complex problems.

* Directs major projects. Conducts complex investigations important to the companys business goals. Set strategic and policy direction in their technical field of expertise. Identifies and utilizes best-in-class analytical tools to perform job.

* Organizational Interface: Mentors others by sharing knowledge expertise and providing feedback and guidance. Where appropriate. Provides tasks / project assignment opportunities for employee development and evaluates performance.

* Represents the organization as a subject matter expert. Interacts with both senior management and external personnel.

* Prepares written communication. Conveys information effectively through formal and informal documents. May move forward with action plans without seeking approval. Exhibits advanced ability to apply concepts of careful communication.

* Establishes internal and external networks. Contributes willingly and incorporates the ideas of others shares resources knowledge and accountability to benefit the objectives of the business.

* Compliance: Complies with all regulations and internal / external standards. Stays current on changing technical requirements. Regulations and standards. Identifies potential EHS risks and consequences of new and modified processes/systems/regulations and takes appropriate action. Ensures timeline and accuracy of required documentation.

**Additional Responsibilities**:

* Is identified as a Subject Matter Expert in each discipline.

* Participates in internal. Crossdivisional teams to develop and align procedures and standards.

* Directs the efforts of others such as internal and external resources. Performs tasks such as writing Requests for Capital Expenditures (RCEs). safety checklists. Scope documents. Provides project supervision and mentors junior staff.

* Represents company view on projects and actively influences regulatory community and industry/ professional groups.

* Routinely provides analyses and updates to senior management. Provides training. Develops procedures. Represents EHS on project teams.

Biosafety Responsibilities

* Develop biosafety programs;

* Advise laboratory personnel on biosafety matters;

* Conduct annual laboratory inspections to ensure compliance with Biosafety Program;

* Provide guidance on biosafety protocols;

* Provide appropriate biohazard signage for posting in laboratories using biological agents;

* Provide guidance on the design of biocontainment laboratories and the purchase of containment equipment, such as biological safety cabinets ;

* Recommend methods of handling, transporting, decontaminating, and disposing of biohazardous materials;

* Assess laboratory safety risk and recommend safe procedures, containment devices, and equipment;

* Prepare and provide basic biosafety training online and in the classroom;

* Collaborate with Occupational Health services to manage laboratory exposures to potentially infectious agents or materials, and to monitor laboratory staff for symptoms of potential laboratory-acquired infections;

* Maintain agent profile forms for biohazards used in R&D Laboratories; and

* ?Keep laboratory staff informed of the sites biological spill protocols.

Chemical Safety Responsibilities

* Functioning as the sites Chemical Hygiene Officers;

* Reviewing, updating, and publishing the sites Chemical Hygiene Plan;

* Implementing the provisions of the sites Chemical Hygiene Plan;

* Conducting Research Safety Inspections;

* Developing and conducting chemical/ laboratory safety training;

* Providing guidance and acting as a resource to laboratory personnel;

* Advising, coordinating, and maintaining records for hazardous waste;

* Arranging for industrial hygiene monitoring;

* Advising personnel on the ergonomics in the laboratory; and

* Managing the Respiratory Protection Program.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOULL BRING**

**Required**

* **Bachelors Degree** in a science discipline (Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, EHS, Occupational Health, Engineering, Science, Nursing, or closely related discipline) is required, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence.

* **Minimum 8 Years of Experience** - Significant EHS and/or operational experience. Demonstrate competencies within the following: Set Vision & Strategy, Anticipate, Innovate, Build and Deliver Results.

* Professional certification and graduate degree highly desirable

**Preferred**

* Masters Degree in EHS, Occupational Health, Engineering, science, nursing, or closely related discipline.

* CSP, CIH, or Related Certification
