Position Description:

Summary:

Mechanical Project Engineers are responsible for completion of engineering analysis and design of machinery. Specific duties include: design, implementation, project coordination, complex analysis and subsystem original designs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Expert in use of engineering analysis and development tools and/or CAD systems. Familiarity with Creo, Solidworks and/or NX.

Able to interpret results of FEA, dynamic, and servo analyses.

Working knowledge of all production-related processes from order entry to installation.

Proactively attain a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

Conduct and/or participate in design reviews as needed.

Participates in or plans the development of new designs or analyses, including original overall product designs/concepts. A wide degree of creativity and originality is expected.

Take ownership of customer issues and drive them to conclusion.

Limited travel is necessary to support projects in the field (estimate 2-6 trips per year)

Provides technical support for the following functions:

Sales – supplies information regarding design capabilities / limitations and function; advises about application and special features.

Manufacturing – provides information and assistance with production issues; supplies guidance and training to production personnel; helps develop manufacturing, assembly and test procedures.

Service – provides information and assistance to Field Service and Install to correct field performance problems; provides technical information and advice for training and development of instruction manuals.

Education/Experience:

B.S. degree from a 4-year college or university

3-10 years design and/or analysis experience

Demonstrated success in application of engineering principles

Skills:

Ability to coordinate internal and supplier technical support

Clearly communicates technical information and project status

Leads design reviews, Hazard Analyses, FMEA's

Organizes thoughts and prepares concisely written reports and e-mails

Strong familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

Clear methodology to problem solving and analytical abilities

Good written and verbal explanations and presentation of data findings

Self-directed with excellent work ethic and time management skills

Functions both as technical contributor and leader

Ability to lead an assigned engineers team during projects

Experience designing weldments, castings, printed and machined parts
