In a centralized underwriting environment, review for approval, counter offer or denial, loans that been submitted via Indirect Lending or Branches, while cross selling additional CU Accounts/Loans/Programs, where appropriate. Loans reviewed by the underwriter include: Vehicles, Motorcycles, RVs/Campers/Motorhomes, Other Secured/non-titled, Credit Cards, Lines of Credit, Signature, and Home Equity Loans/Lines of Credit and isolated small business loans.
CORE COMPETENCIES
- Underwrite all Indirect and Direct loans on a first-in-first-out basis in a timely and professional manner;
- Assist VP of Strategic Loan Growth, as needed, with facilitating loan related dealer requests, questions, or concerns;
- Mentor and assist lending team in underwriting, verification of income, appraisal reviews and indirect vehicle loan processing;
- Audit loan supporting documents for accuracy, consistency, and completeness including verification of income
- Propose and/or assist in revision or procurement of loan related documents or data throughout Indirect Lending workflow (Underwriting, Auditing, Funding, Imaging)
- Assist with the booking and funding process of indirect loans. To include the mailing of new membership packets as needed.
- Meet the on-going training requirements via on-line, attending classes, one on one training, etc.;
- Consistently meet individual, departmental and credit union goals, while protecting asset quality, minimizing losses and maintaining good member relations;
- Comprehend and comply with all Federal and State lending regulations, and all Partner CU policies and procedures;
- Work evenings, Saturdays and holidays, as business needs dictate;
- Perform other duties as required and needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
- Knowledge of Federal and state lending regulations
- Knowledge of financial products, loan documents and services
- Ability to make decisions that may be outside of normal guidelines, while mitigating risk for the Credit Union and the member/borrower.
- Computer skills: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Data Entry
- Ability to operate basic office equipment including fax, copier, laser printer, personal computer, telephone and calculator
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks effectively
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as those necessary to calculate APR, interest projections, and debt ratios. Ability to effectively weigh the impact of decisions on the long term. Correctly assesses risk in making decisions. Looks at alternative solutions, and considers all circumstances before making decisions.
- Ability to read and analyze verbal or written communication; Can communicate effectively and convey ideas concisely in written and verbal form
- Ability to tactfully question and actively listen to members, or co-workers to determine specific needs/concerns and bring resolution to them
- Ability to work with minimum supervision, meet deadlines, work effectively as a team member, resolve problems, make decisions, and deal effectively with the public and co-workers
- Ability to increase loan volume and membership growth and associated cross sales while maintaining safety and soundness of credit and membership standards
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (can substitute for work experience.
EXPERIENCE
Two years of consumer lending experience with full underwriting authority.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Starting hourly rate - $25.00+ depending on experience
