Part I - Position Description

The Director of Financial Reporting is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the College's financial statements. This position involves managing the preparation and analysis of comprehensive financial reports, adhering to both internal guidelines and external regulatory requirements. The Director of Financial Reporting collaborates with the CFO and other departments to gather necessary financial data, oversees the implementation of effective internal controls, and provides insights to senior management for strategic decision-making. This role also stays closely informed on changes in financial regulations and accounting standards, ensuring the College's compliance, and contributing to the preparation of the annual budget.

The Director of Financial Reporting will bring a keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to supporting the financial health and sustainability of the College.

Part II - Responsibilities
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements for internal and external review and distribution.
  • Collaborate with the CFO in managing the College's finance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the financial reporting process, including quarterly and annual reports.
  • Develop and implement internal control procedures to safeguard financial assets.
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to senior management.
  • Collaborate with various departments to collect and verify financial data.
  • Prepare financial reports for the College's Board of Trustees and Finance Committee.
  • Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and accounting standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the annual budget.
  • Monitor and report on the College's financial performance and health.
  • Support strategic planning and decision-making with financial data and analysis.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of regulatory filings.
  • Lead financial audits and coordinate with external auditors.
  • Provide training and guidance to the Leadership team on reporting standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of financial processes and reports.
  • Attend meetings of the Board of Trustees upon request.
  • Reliable and timely attendance at the job location.

Part III - Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in accounting or finance)
    • Combined experience/education may serve as substitute for minimum education requirement.
  • CPA or CFA (strongly preferred)
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a similar role and similar environment (preferred).
  • Experience as Director of Financial Reporting, Director of Finance, or Controller in the nonprofit and/or higher education sector(s) (preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform the work as outlined in the position description and responsibilities sections above.
  • This position requires the ability to lift 30lbs (approx.) and must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
