Graduate Engineer II Transportation

Overview:

MSA has an opportunity for a Graduate Engineer II Airports & Transportation at our Appleton office location. The location could be flexible based on the candidate's experience. You will have the opportunity to see and contribute in projects from start to finish. The various projects you'll be working on make a significant and positive impact on the communities you serve. The Graduate Engineer II assists in completing projects and may provide leadership in some aspects of project completion. Our team has a range of experience from providing services at small General Aviation airports to past experiences at commercial service airports.

The work you may do

• Preparation of plans using Civil3D and AutoCAD software
• Preparation of technical reports for projects
• Construction engineering for airport projects (WisDOT Highways or Bureau of Aeronautics (BOA) experience a plus)
• Coordinate and assist on multi-discipline projects
• Preparation of work plans and engineering services contracts, invoices, and amendments
• Planning, design, bidding, and construction engineering services on airport and transportation projects
• Preparation of details, specifications, and bidding documents using Microsoft Word
• Preparation of regulatory permits for projects
• Preparation of construction cost estimates
• May perform construction administration duties such as documenting activities, communicating to project managers regarding status and progress of construction, measuring and testing, providing general oversight, and interacting with contractors, sub-contractors, residents and airport Staff.
• Be a part of helping build client relationships, including attending airport commission meetings
• Ability to get training and mentoring on project management and client liaison duties

What you bring
Skills & Knowledge / Education & Experience:

• A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering required (transportation/aviation focus preferred)
• 2+ years of relevant, post-graduate engineering experience required (4 years preferred)
• WI EIT certification required
• Knowledge of FAA and BOA procedures preferred
• A general knowledge of Civil Engineering design tasks, proficient in AutoCAD and Civil3D, construction inspection tasks, ability to be trained / mentored, positive attitude, self-motivator, any prior airport experience a plus
• Solid written and verbal communication skills required
