DescriptionThe Industrial Custodian will be responsible for maintaining a clean plant in common areas primarily focused on floors and pellet lay down areas. They will maintain the cleaning equipment for the floors, parking lot, and larger vacuum units. This position will report directly to the Plant Manager and will assist as needed for cleaning projects and some material handling in manufacturing as needed. Work Schedule: 1st Shift 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM Monday - FridayResponsibilities Utilizes and maintains all floor cleaning equipment (mobile scrubbers, sweepers, and hand tools). Maintains and cleans all exterior areas to comply with environmental guidelines. May assist in basic material handling as needed. Completes required paperwork. Follows general safety and housekeeping standards. Makes recommendations to management on how to improve the cleanliness of the facility.Perform other duties as assigned.RequirementsSkills and AbilitiesManufacturing experience is preferred.Custodial experience is a plus.Must have some very basic mechanical skills. Must have a positive attitude.Must be dependable and have excellent attendance.Strong work ethic.Ability to work well with others.Must have safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines.Ability to read, write, and speak English.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Education and ExperiencePreferred high school diploma or equivalent.Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsWhile performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; talk and/or hear. Occasionally employee is required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally handle (with mechanical equipment) up to 250 pounds. Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.This position requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, respirators, face shield, hearing protection, Tyveksuit, gloves, etc. Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level may be possible. Proper personal safety equipment is to be used while performing this job as pointed out by plant safety procedures. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk of electric shock and non-hazardous chemical agents. Employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication standard.
