TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Rapid City, South Dakota, 57701 About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Job Specialty: Ortho Neuro Surgical (ONS) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Guaranteed Hours: 48 per week Experience: - 1 year of nursing experience required - Previous experience with Intermediate/Stepdown acuity and Neuro patients - Comfortability to take MedSurg assignments License: Registered Nurse (RN) with state board-approved nursing education Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Must-Have: - Experience with reading and interpreting cardiac strips - Proficiency in trach care, NGT tube placement and management, and JP drains - Competence in administering medication, TPN/tube feeding, and blood product transfusions - Ability to perform wound care/dressing changes - Skills in drip titration for Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed, and occasionally esmolol drips - EPIC experience preferred Job Description: - Provide high-quality care in a Dynamic and Mixed Acuity Unit specializing in Ortho, Neuro, and Surgical patients - Manage surgical cases such as urology, bowel obstructions, and general abdominal surgeries - Handle orthopedic cases involving total joints and ortho trauma - Care for neuro/spine patients, including CVA/TIA, seizures, brain tumors, and spinal surgeries - Address various general medical conditions such as cellulitis, renal failure, and more typical to telemetry and MedSurg - Collaborate with a pod structure team, taking responsibility for 8 patients together with another RN and a Nurse Aide - Participate in 2 days of departmental orientation and 2 shifts of guided preceptorship - Supportive resources available within the unit including charge nurses, phlebotomy, and respiratory therapy - Function effectively within a multidisciplinary team, maintaining high compliance with care audits and clinical standards - Float to other adult inpatient units from time to time, including Med Surg, Heart and Vascular, and Oncology as required 26142999EXPTEMP Job Requirements Required for Onboarding ACLS - AHA BLS - AHA Core Competency PALS - AHA Pharmacology Skills Checklist Specialty Exam TNCC 5 Benefits of Travel Nursing Constantly adapting to new environments and healthcare facilities challenges you to expand your knowledge and skills.
