Overview:

Under the direction of the Manager of Internal Audit, the Junior Internal Auditor performs professional internal auditing work including planning and executing financial, operational, and compliance audits or projects. The Junior Internal Auditor identifies and understands issues or problems, and develops integrated recommendations or solutions within a broad technical and organizational context.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions

  1. Audit timecards for compensation of missed meals, missed breaks and payroll errors to ensure compliance with regulations, policies and procedures. Documents audit tests, findings, and follows through with recommendations to payroll staff and management.
  2. Checks status change forms for accuracy, authorization, and compliance with pay practices and HR policies and procedures.
  3. Familiar with wage and hour regulations and company policies and procedures.
  4. Compiles/summarizes reports submitted by AHMC hospitals.
  5. Audits Year-End Physical inventory count.
  6. Reviews for appropriate authorization(s) for payments on accounts payables.
  7. Reviews fixed assets schedules for accuracy.
  8. Reviews month-end accruals and prepaids for accuracy.
  9. Coordinates with hospitals accounting for audit/review data requests.
  10. Demonstrates ability to analyze data and familiarity with data analytics procedures and software and to analyze and solve complex problems.
  11. Complies with company policies and procedures at all times including HIPAA regulations and the company confidentiality policy.

  13. 13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Accountability

  1. The incumbent ensures compliance with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and documentation.
  2. The incumbent verifies assets and liabilities by comparing items to documentation.
  3. The incumbent completes audit work papers by documenting audit tests and findings.
  4. The incumbent communicates audit findings by preparing a final report; discussing findings with immediate supervisor.
  5. The incumbent prepares special audit and control reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing operating information and trends.
  6. The incumbent is responsible for directing the development and coordination of specific projects assigned.
  7. This position is responsible for promoting an environment of teamwork with all members of the organization.
  8. The incumbent is responsible for assuring the assigned projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  9. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating with internal and external resources to ensure the success of the assigned projects.
  10. The incumbent is accountable for communicating to the Manager of Internal Audit of any possible issues, which may arise in order to proactively develop an action plan to minimize or eliminate the issue.
  11. The incumbent is responsible for acting in an ethical manner at all times.
  12. The incumbent is accountable for maintaining confidentiality.
  13. The incumbent is responsible for complying with all company policies and procedures.
  14. The incumbent is responsible for complying with all local, state and federal laws.
Qualifications:

Education/Training/Experience - Qualifactions

  1. Bachelors degree in Accounting, or Finance preferred.
  2. A minimum of one year of auditing or accounting experience. Healthcare experience preferred.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  4. Knowledge of HIPAA and privacy regulations.
  5. Possess excellent communication (oral and written) and customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner with all levels of company personnel.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external resources.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects with accuracy and efficiency, while meeting established deadlines.
  8. Ability to work independently.
  9. Must possess excellent human relation skills.
  10. Must possess excellent critical thinking skills.
  11. Possess strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task, and prioritize workload.
  12. Ability to interpret, prepare, and present reports to management in both written and oral formats.
  13. Ability to make presentations, design and provide training education to staff and management
