About the role: Under limited supervision, the Packaging Engineer is responsible for developing and analyzing packaging, products, materials, processes and equipment for projects of moderate complexity. The incumbent will compile, analyze and report operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly-designed or modified packaging, products, processes or materials. Your responsibilities will include: Providing engineering support for projects related to medical device packaging Working with project teams on packaging, product design and development, materials testing, specification preparation, process capability studies Collaborate with various BSC departments, divisions and suppliers to ensure a consistent, practical, and improved approach to packaging Designing and coordinating standard engineering tests and experiments for existing design improvements Completing packaging tests of new sustainable materials for product development Creating and managing packaging-related documentation such as specifications, test plans and reports; ensure all documented activities meet the appropriate regulatory guidelines Executing value improvement projects within the Boston Scientific network Keeping abreast of new technologies and advances in the medical device packaging industry Required qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering Minimum 2 years of packaging engineering experience with related equipment and materials (i.e. paperboard, corrugated, flexible films, Tyvek, thermoformed trays and injection molded parts) Proficient with MS Office applications (i.e. Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Project etc.) Ability to work independently to complete tasks and meet timelines Preferred qualifications: Experience with supply chain and distribution Experience working in the medical device, pharmaceutical or similar industry Understanding of quality system controls (e.g. user needs, design inputs, outputs, verification, validation, etc.) Familiar with ASTM, ISO, and ISTA package testing requirements Experience with sustainability and process improvement initiatives Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with individuals on all levels Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills; analytical and process-driven Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects efficiently Requisition ID: 588568 Among other requirements, Boston Scientific maintains specific prohibited substance testing requirements for safety-sensitive positions.
