Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Batch Infrastructure) Join to apply for the Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Batch Infrastructure) role at Affirm. Vision: Provide reliable, scalable, self?serve compute solutions to support ML, product, and financial engineering. Build and maintain the compute platform that underpins scheduled and on?demand batch workloads. What Youll Do Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open?ended problems. Collaborate with product, design, and analytics to articulate technical constraints and trade?offs. Identify and solve project, process, technology, or business issues proactively. Support operations and availability: create and monitor metrics, manage on?call and lights?on duties. Set and enforce code review and design standards; advocate quality beyond the team. Mentor teammates, provide feedback and guidance. What We Look For 4+ years designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python, Kotlin, or similar. Experience building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes. Knowledge of workflow orchestration frameworks: Airflow, Flyte, Prefect, Temporal, Luigi. Understanding of large?scale data processing frameworks like Spark/Flink on Kubernetes. Proficiency in writing high?quality, extensible code. Ownership mindset, skills in feedback loops, strong verbal and written communication. Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience. Base Pay & Equity Base pay: $190,000 $240,000 per year (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT). US range: $169,000 $219,000. Equity reward, monthly stipends, 100% medical coverage.
