POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical and process-driven Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer, and will feature two primary areas of responsibility, outlined below. The role also includes the opportunity for growth and exposure to additional aspects of corporate financial planning and analysis over time.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Financial Operations for Technology Department
Financial analyst and financial coordinator assigned to the CIO organization, enabling SMC3s technology leaders to do more technology leading and to spend less time on financial tasks
Handles the planning, forecasting, execution, tracking and reporting aspects of all company technology-related expenses including software licenses, outside services, professional services, capital expenses and more
Develops into a trusted business partner with technology leadership, becoming a vital part of their team as the department financial management resource
Assists senior technology leaders during vendor negotiations processes
Duties are varied and are not limited to: budgeting, forecasting, business case development, decision support analysis, purchase requests/purchase orders, financial reporting, reviewing vendor proposals, examining invoices, project management, process improvements, recommendations for cost savings, etc.
Vendor Lifecycle Management
Responsible for control, visibility and administration of SMC3 vendor agreements across the entire contract lifecycle (from vendor evaluation through vendor agreement approvals through recurring vendor performance reviews)
Ensures needs of departments across the company are incorporated into vendor management process design, process improvements and process execution
Ensures the company Vendor Management Policy is followed across the company, and works to optimize the process with process enhancements and/or software solutions
Maintains well organized vendor agreement and related files in electronic form (executed agreements, certificates of insurance, etc.), available for retrieval on demand
Monitors and anticipates vendor agreement expiration dates to ensure ample time to consider all options and to maximize negotiation time by department leaders
Catalogs key metadata from vendor agreements including key terms, conditions, renewal timing, insurance requirements, etc.
Conducts employee training and elevates employee understanding of the vendor management process, serving as the process coach for the company
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, MIS or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
3 + years of proven experience in business analytical roles, such as finance, procurement, IT management, accounting, pricing, strategic planning, or similar function
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, quantitative analysis, project management and vendor management
Hands-on experience streamlining business processes to eliminate unnecessary steps, reduce paper dependency and automate with technology
Experience in technology procurement or technology sourcing is a plus
Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel, along with general proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Able to communicate clearly, reason logically, and present ideas (written and verbally) in a convincing manner, tailoring the message to fit the audience as needed
Interpersonally adept, with strong listening skills, collaborative nature and adaptability to respond to changing circumstances
Intellectual and analytical curiosity, always seeking the next layer of facts while avoiding resting on assumptions
Highly effective at reading and comprehending the fine print (e.g., contractual terms and conditions, legal documents, internal policies, insurance requirements, etc.)
Works effectively in a team environment while managing shifting priorities without items falling through the cracks
Able to pace work by breaking down complex objectives into sequenced and manageable components
Commitment to delivering excellence while adhering to the highest standards for organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance
Eligible: Opportunity for partial hybrid/remote; however, on-site presence will be regularly required during the initial months of tenure as the candidate ramps up in knowledge and contributions.
