STAFF ACCOUNTANT

The Staff Accountant reports to the Assistant Controller and is primarily responsible for the daily processing and depositing of payments remitted to the Firm for the payment of legal services. This position also involves a lead role in the processing of expense reimbursement requests and reviews of supporting documentation as well as other general accounting duties as time allows on a daily basis. Duties are to be performed from established Firm procedures with moderate supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Essential duties are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer. Regular and predictable attendance is one of the essential functions.

Enter accounts receivable/deposit information into the accounting system.

Reviews checks, wires and ACH payments and applies them into accounts receivable as needed for clients as well as any general ledger cash receipt.

Run daily cash deposit reports.

Reconcile daily/monthly cash receipts.

Field phone calls from clients and makes phone calls to clients regarding bills and cash applications.

Assist with Bank Reconciliations when necessary.

Assist with Billing and Collections when necessary.

Final review of Attorney/Employee expense reports according to firm policies and procedures.

Maintain client confidentiality.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

General computer familiarity and good Excel skills

Good spelling, grammar, punctuation and proofreading skills.

Detail oriented.

Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional communications and work collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team-oriented working environment and throughout operational groups.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's or Associate's Degree is preferred (especially in finance or accounting). Prior business accounting and accounts receivable and cash receipts experience preferred.
