REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university
5+ years related electrical / electronic hardware experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. C
Component engineering with obsolescence experience.
Experienced in use of Silicon Expert Obsolescence tool.
Demonstrated Material Declaration experience including RoHS and REACH, CRF Processing and initiating its application within all stages of product life.
Experienced in BOM Scrubbing.
Advanced working knowledge of MS Office Suite, with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Obsolescence engineer, under general supervision, will coordinate the NAS obsolescence process including predictive analysis, experience with Silicon Expert Obsolescence Tool is required. The Obsolescence Engineer (OE) will be responsible in the case of an obsoleted component, with Engineering support, to investigate and recommend replacement component solutions and/or work with NAS Industry and supply chain, procurement and Customer Service to identify Lifetime Buy Orders (LBO). The OE will prepare, as required, obsolescence reports and recommendations either monthly or quarterly. The OE will monitor the Obsolescence reporting prepared by Thales Component Information System (TCIS) and be responsible for ensuring that Bills of Material (BOMs) are utilizing, where possible, components from the Thales Preferred Parts List. It is anticipated that the OE will participate in Design Reviews to ensure that components being used are not in a near term obsolescence risk and will use Thales obsolescence prediction tools to verify that designs do not include obsolescence risks. The OE will work with the Engineering Product Design Authorities to track and predict obsolescence using the available Thales and external tools as necessary.

Coordinates the obsolescence management solutions based on the following:Customers' requirements and reporting requirements.
Parts availability and alternative options;
Lifetimes Buy Options;
Production needs.
Manages Predictive Obsolescence reports using Silicon Expert and Thales Group Services available tools and processes.
Assigns part numbers for non PPL parts through the Thales Component Information System
Shares functional responsibility with Engineering for all identified component issues.
Recommends alternative parts where available for Engineering evaluation.
Analyses and responds to all technical and non-technical questions accurately and clearly.
Manages and coordinates multi-function Obsolescence Meetings, supports as necessary Design Reviews.

Keep current on all Component Engineering issues within their responsibility and create reports (verbal and written) to clarify current issues as requested.
Be a flexible and responsible self-starter.
Capable of prioritizing and balancing multiple complex tasks while remaining on schedule.
Utilizes an obsolescence-tracking tool to document obsolescence issues from the notification to the solution implementation. Tool should record all decisions taken to mitigate the notified obsolescence.
