KPS Global is looking for a Director Continuous Improvement, to join the Operations Group.

Job Summary

The CIP Director is responsible for building and managing the continuous improvement team that partners with business operations across multiple manufacturing sites to identify waste and gain efficiencies in order to improve margin, reduce cycle, and realize productivity gains in labor, material, and overhead, while driving and supporting a business goal of job enrichment and satisfaction.

Major Responsibilities
  • Engaging the team in all aspects of the business while developing and maintaining a CI roadmap that defines areas of popularity, intended benefits, and prioritization (a fluid roadmap) with supporting metrics that qualitatively tracks successes, shortcomings, timelines, and recovery plans as needed
  • Leading and fostering a "champion of engagement" philosophy, drawing on all functions (salaried and hourly) by driving involvement and teamwork, and by leveraging the insights and talents of everyone on the team; accomplishing this through Kaizen events, gemba walks, developing and leading lean skills training events, one-on-one dialogue, participation, and support of KPS Global's business communication plan
  • Supporting the development of annual operating budgets and driving accountability through the organization, specifically owning the productivity plan including target areas, timing, and benefits
  • Driving consistent behavior and practice across all manufacturing sites for business uniformity (best practices) and auditing for compliance
  • Coaching and developing the CI Engineers for their growth and increased value to the business
  • Identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the company's cash conversion cycle
  • Using formal, data-driven problem-solving and implementation methodologies to drive their initiatives forward and deliver results
  • Leading and participating in lean initiatives, such as 5s, value stream mapping, process observation and analysis, and kaizen events
  • Training individuals and teams in the use of basic lean tools to promote a culture of continuous improvement (Toyota production principles/other)
  • Developing and putting forth business cases and capital expenditure requests to justify and support potential CI projects
  • Working with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Customer Operations, Human Resources, and other teams when cross-functional problem solving initiatives are required
  • Working with Industrial Engineering and Accounting to define the financial impact of continuous improvement activities while assuring benefits are evident within the P&L cost structure and audit for adherence to the original hypothesis
  • Supporting the Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering individuals (and outside 3rd parties as needed) by assisting or leading facility upgrades and equipment installation projects
  • Projecting a positive, solution-seeking attitude in all business interactions
  • Solving complex business problems in both office and manufacturing environments without adding undue rigor; employing a variety of CI / problem-solving tools and knowing when each is appropriate to use
  • Challenging the status quo and thinking beyond roadblocks, past experience, current practices to overcome hurdles and employ creative solutions; employing the use of the 5 "Why's"
  • Motivating others to participate, support, and share your enthusiasm and vision
  • Effectively communicating verbally, visually, and in writing to sell your ideas to various levels within the organization
  • Adapting and staying flexible within multiple business environments and audiences
  • Fulfilling the financial control and risk management responsibilities inherent in the position
  • Conducting yourself in accordance with the Company Code of Ethics policy at all times.
Required Skills
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams, facilitation skills, and possesses excellent human relations skills
  • Strong project management, statistical aptitude, quantitative, and analytical skills
  • Ability to assemble appropriate teams and resources to successfully move the project forward and keep it on track
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects independently with little to no supervision; must be able to recognize roadblocks and be able to use change management techniques to manage organizational change
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to effectively communicate and influence across functions and at all levels of the organization
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field or Operations Management
  • 7+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment with 2+ years in a management role and 3+ years in a dedicated lean / CI capacity with quantifiable results
  • Lean / Continuous Improvement training (Six Sigma, Toyota Production Principles, Demand Flow Technology, others) and in-depth knowledge of various CI tools (VSM, Fishbone Diagrams, Spaghetti Diagrams, FMEA's, A3 PDCA, Ford 8D Process)
