Pay rate for the Grant Writer position is up to $28.09 an hour based on skills and experience.

Support the fundraising programs of The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay with submission of requests to corporations and foundations resulting in increased revenue.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify corporations, foundations and other grant and philanthropic organizations as potential funding sources.
  • Design a work plan for securing funds to ensure fundraising goals are met.
  • Develop, edit, package, and submit proposals, budgets and supporting materials.
  • Execute all Request for Proposal application activities, including planning, document gathering, internal and external communication and final submission.
  • Collaborate with Officers, Director of Development, and program staff regarding programs/projects for potential funding.
  • Develop and maintain electronic library of supporting documents (prospect and donor lists).
  • Proactively research new sources of potential funding within Greater Green Bay.
  • Provide grantwriting support for capital campaigns, building projects, or other special projects as they arise.
  • Assimilate and compile complex information on programs/projects from multiple sources into a comprehensive and accessible format.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive detailed tracking system setting forth the status of all current, pending and potential funding sources with particular attention to meeting all internal and external deadlines.
  • Assist in preparation of reports or presentations as needed that may be required to fulfill requests of funding use, program needs or reporting requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related field preferred.

Experience: 2 years of work experience in grant writing or a related field.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Certifications: Applicant must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier. CPR/AED/First Aid certification for Adults, Pediatric, and Infants recommended within 60 days of hire.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with staff and community personnel.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of development and fundraising.
  • Ability to persuasively communicate clearly and effectively in English both orally and in writing with tact, diplomacy and authority.
  • Ability to work under pressure of many priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work well with staff, volunteers and community members.
  • Strong organizational skills, well-disciplined, attention to detail, able to meet deadlines, self-starter.
  • Strong technology skills and proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and donor research programs.
  • Understand and support the Mission Statement of The Salvation Army

Travel:

This position requires occasional local travel between Salvation Army locations as well to destinations within the Greater Green Bay community. Occasional business travel to areas outside Greater Green Bay may be required for conferences, seminars, etc.

Working Conditions:

The duties of this job will primarily be performed indoors under normal room temperatures. When the duties require being outdoors, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level will generally be low. This is a part-time position that requires the employee to work a variable and flexible schedule.
