Our Team is looking for a Foundry Tech and if you're interested in learning, we can train you What is a foundry? Foundry work is beautiful. Historically, a foundry is the foundation of metal manufacturing; it is the transformation of alloys and metals from one form into another: a solid, into liquid, and back into solid. At QMC-EMI our Foundry Technicians prepare foams and patterns; they pour, shake out, and torch the mold. Our Foundry Tech's ensure that all tools leaving the Foundry have been finished properly including all cleaning, pins & slots, walls ground, properly inspected and recorded/engraved. This is a physically challenging job; but the final product is a mold that can be big or small; it is a piece of art, functional art, that will shape, mold, and create the parts our customers use to build a car, a truck, an airplane, or even a spaceship. As part of this role the ideal candidate will also learn to: Safely operate all necessary equipment as required including the overhead crane. Ensure that molds are safe to pour and all precautions have been taken to prevent accidents. Sift and pack sand into mold sections, core boxes, and pattern contours, using hand or pneumatic ramming tools. Position patterns inside mold sections, and clamp sections together. Set-up, pour and torch molds adding molten metal if needed during the torching process. Clean and smooth molds, cores, and core boxes, and repair surface imperfections. Operate ovens or furnaces to bake cores or to melt, skim, and flux metal. Learn additional aspects of the role. Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required. Proficient in English (reading, speaking, and writing) An understanding of the importance of reporting to work on-time, as scheduled.
