Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

Job Type Full-timeDescriptionSummary/Objective:The Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Physician Assistant (PA) works closely with the Medical Director to provide integrated, comprehensive behavioral health care. This role involves evaluating and diagnosing clients with behavioral and mental health conditions, utilizing expertise in psychotropic medications and dosage management under the guidance of the Medical Director. The provider collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring each client receives the most effective care. The provider is committed to offering ongoing support and education to clients and their families, ensuring a holistic approach to care that addresses behavioral needs.At CHJC, the NP/PA is part of a treatment team. Clinical verbal therapy is generally provided by trained clinicians. The NP/PA primarily provides medication monitoring and psychotropic care at varying complexities. Key Responsibilities:Provides comprehensive care through diagnosis, clinical judgment, and management to restore, maintain, and improve overall health status in accordance with practice policies and scope of practice, including:Assessment of physical, emotional, and developmental status of the individual and family. Analysis of health behavior related to personality, lifestyle, and culture.Prescriptive treatment of health problems.Provides health education to clients.Reviews client history and develops individualized treatment plans, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Initiates medical or nursing orders; interprets nursing and clinical assessments; implements advancements in client care.Participates and communicates effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality care is provided to each client receiving treatment. Reviews, evaluates and documents client response to care; assesses client's medical/nursing educational needs and provides both formal and informal teaching; effectively involves client, family and collaterals in plan of care.Works in collaboration and/or coordination with other healthcare providers to provide comprehensive client care. Supports the efforts of staff to assess and triage clients for levels of risk, determines need for referrals, and assists with diagnosis and management.Functions within CHJC's clinical care model, seeing clients at appropriate frequencies and billing appropriate level of care.Participates in Quality Improvement and Utilization Management programs and activities.Participates in continuing education programs as approved by the Medical Director.Participates in staff meetings, case conferences, in-service training, and continuing education.Maintains standards of care as described in Principles of Practice, protocols, and Scope of Practice as approved by the State of New York Board of Nursing and the American Medical Association or other appropriate entity. Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.Performs other related functions as required for agency operations.Compliant with all related DOH and OMH regulations.Other duties as assigned by the Medical Director or agency leadership.Special Requirements:Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an interior office or clinic environment, will require occasional travel within the community to include off-site visits. Works in an office setting with a controlled temperature environment. Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions may occur depending upon assignments. Exposure to blood and/or body fluids. The nature of this role can occasionally be demanding. Operational hours and staff schedules may vary depending on the needs of each worksite. Employees will also have direct contact with clients, who may be experiencing a range of physical and emotional conditions, including illness, injury, distress, and fluctuating emotional states. May have contact with service recipients that are agitated and/or are in crisis. Some risk involved working with service recipients with mental illness. Additionally, interactions with staff, the public, and government representatives will occur under diverse and sometimes challenging circumstances.Equipment: Employees will frequently use computers, office equipment, and engage in various forms of communication, including typing, reading, writing, and use of copiers, fax machines and telephones.Physical Demands: Standing, walking, memory, concentration, sitting for long periods of time, hearing, carrying, speaking, writing, bending, pulling, problem solving, lifting, reaching, kneeling, running, seeing, reading, climbing, pushing.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:Full-Time; 40 hours/week. Traditional hours required along with non-traditional hours. This position is required to work on-site. Operational hours and staff schedules may vary depending on the needs of each worksite.Travel:Travel could be requested throughout service area (Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, and St. Lawerence County).Required Education and Experience:Nurse Practitioner: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, successful completion of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) program with emphasis in psychiatric care and Licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) and registered by the New York Board of Nursing. Physician Assistant: Graduate of an accredited Physician's Assistant program (ARC-PA). Certification from the PANCE Board with previous experience and course work in psychiatric care preferred. Must possess an active DEA number. Previous experience and course work in psychiatric care strongly preferred. Familiarity with ECHO preferred.RequirementsSkills/Abilities/Knowledge:Strong organizational abilities and office skills are essential for this position. This person must also have excellent people skills and be a team player. Ability to work with diverse populations. Must demonstrate effective and excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others. Must be detail-oriented and possess excellent time-management skills. Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to be clear, courteous, and professional. Able to react to change productively and handle other duties as assigned.Additional Eligibility Qualifications:Must maintain privacy of confidential information. Successful completion of routine pre-employment requirements as mandated by the New York State Department of Health, Office of Mental Health and Office of Children and Family Services along with ongoing clearances and exclusion checks. These requirements are to include employment health requirements, reference checks, criminal background checks/fingerprinting, State Central Registry clearance and your eligibility to work in the United States. A valid NYS driver's license required. Corporate Compliance, HIPAA Privacy Security, and Workplace Harassment and Discrimination Training and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, First Aid and CPR will be required following date of hire.Salary Description Starting at $98,586.00
