Aquatics Director

Immediate Opening

University School of Nashville seeks an Aquatics Director to develop and implement high quality aquatic programs for its kindergarten - 8th grade students, coach middles and high school students, and maintain a clean and safe pool environment. The goal of the school's aquatics program is to implement high quality programming, incorporate best practices, and ensure safe delivery of all aquatic programs in an environment that reflects the practices of Responsive Classroom and Positive Coaching Alliance. The position calls for excellent teamwork with physical education colleagues and members of the USN community. The Aquatics Director reports to the Athletic Director and is a member of the Physical Education Department. This position is classified as full-time, 12 months, benefit eligible.

This position is full-time and requires availability all year. Typical office hours are 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends required.

Responsibilities Model appropriate care and health and wellness practices for a K-12 school Ensure the safe delivery of aquatic programs to students, faculty and staff and model best practices in swimming to various age groups and abilities Develop and implement safe high-quality programming, scheduling, purchasing of equipment, and promotion for facility and possible off-site aquatic programs and other programs Maintain a clean and safe pool environment; maintain program areas and equipment to meet all relevant standards Hire, train, supervise and evaluate a professional team of qualified aquatic staff and volunteers; ensure lifeguard coverage; staff all programs appropriately to ensure coverage during all programs, activities, and open swimming times Maintain lifeguard license; comply with standards to maintain his/her license Ensure all aquatics staff acquire and maintain necessary licenses/certifications; train all staff in emergency procedures and incident reporting Direct and coordinate all aquatic programs, CPR/First-Aid/Lifeguard/AED licensing/certification programs Manage all necessary information and records for the development of programs, program participants and program evaluations Respond to concerns in a timely, professional manner Lifeguard and lead programs in support of staff when necessary; provide fun, supportive work environment with high staff morale and proper recognition Prepare budgets for all aquatics programs and assure adherence to final budget income generation and expense control Serve on and participate in appropriate school-wide committees; attend staff meetings and training sessions

Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's Degree in a related field required, Master's degree preferred Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission of USN Superior supervisory skills and an enthusiastic personality with the ability to inspire and motivate our staff and students Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends Minimum 1600 hours lifeguarding experience and minimum four years' experience in direct teaching of aquatic programs Experience with pool operations and testing pool chemicals; Pool Operator certification preferred
