Refund Specialist

Under indirect supervision, performs a variety of tasks researching refund requests, overpayments, credit balances and ensuring money is correctly applied and overpayments are refunded to the appropriate party timely in accordance with Concentra policies, practices, and procedures.

Determining Refunds:Researches credits on account receivables, unapplied balances and resolves balancesReconciles receipt summaries and resolves balancesContact payers (non-injury and injury) to determine if payments can be applied and process paperwork for payment transferResearches and processes refund transactions such as duplicate payments and checks received in errorResearches and transfers unidentified payments to appropriate accounts/chargesDocumentation:Researches and pulls copies of previously paid checksProcesses refund request spreadsheets/forms and makes appropriate copiesSubmits electronic refund requests to accounts payable with manager approval and documents request dateFiles and maintains refund copiesIdentifies additional documentation needsPerforms other duties as assignedMailing of RefundsRecords refund checks and documents necessary information in systemMails refund checks in a timely manner

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:High school diploma or equivalent

JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:One year Accounts Receivable or payment posting experience preferred

DEMONSTRATED JOB-RELATED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:Familiarity with refund processFamiliarity with Windows Excel and WordFamiliarity with medical codingDemonstrated strong organizational and communication skillsDemonstrated good analytical and data entry skillsDemonstrated ability to operate 10 key numerical pad by touchDemonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately and under time constrictionsWORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Office environmentAbility to work overtime as neededThis job requires access to confidential and sensitive information, requiring ongoing discretion and secure information management.
