Position Description : The Director of Finance will oversee all financial activities of Faith in Public Life and Faith in Public Life Action. This role includes financial planning, managing financial risks, record-keeping, and financial reporting. The Director of Finance will ensure the organization’s financial health by managing budgeting processes, developing financial strategies, and monitoring internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit financial management, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote setting.

Job Responsibilities : Financial Strategy and Planning:

Collaborate with the COO to develop and implement financial strategies that support the organization’s mission and goals. Budget Management:

Assist the COO in overseeing the annual budgeting process, including the preparation, review, and analysis of budgets for all departments. Financial Reporting:

Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and forecasts to the COO, CEO, and Board of Directors. Internal Controls:

Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure financial integrity. Compliance and Audit:

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations. Assist the COO in managing annual audits and coordinating with external auditors. Grants Management:

Oversee the financial aspects of grant management, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance. Payroll and Benefits Administration:

Together with the Associate Director of Human Resources, supervise payroll processing and benefits administration, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws. Bookkeeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including the processing of accounts payable and receivable, reconciliation of bank statements, and general ledger management. Team Leadership:

Collaborate with members of the Operations team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Job Qualifications :

Education : Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred. Experience : Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Skills : Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards, financial reporting, and compliance. Proficiency in accounting software (Sage Intacct and Quickbooks) and Microsoft Office Suite. Attributes : Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Identify opportunities for financial growth and sustainability. Transparency and Integrity : Ensure transparency in all financial dealings and uphold the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct. Innovation : Embrace and implement innovative financial practices and technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Responsive Support : Provide responsive and supportive financial guidance to program and department leaders, staff, and Senior Leaders, helping them achieve their objectives within budgetary constraints.
