We are currently seeking an experienced Accountant II

that will be responsible for the financial management of the collection, distribution and maintenance of funds handled within the Department of Human Resources.

The Accountant II will oversee accounting and budget functions of the department. Helps maintain the fiscal integrity of the department's budget and fiscal policies. Reconciles cash summaries, prepares cash deposits and manages accounts payables. Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

Maintains the billing of the Human Resources Division. Create spreadsheets, maintain fixed asset inventory by completing the required forms related to the acquisition, disposition or transfer of equipment. Monitors accounts and performs financial transactions by preparing spreadsheets, reconciling accounts, reviewing outstanding payables, posting accounts payable and generating checks. Manages accounts payable by reviewing data entry of documents, maintaining spreadsheets for expenses and assisting with the preparation of the yearly budget. Provides assistance to customers by addressing billing concerns and providing information. Maintains special revenue grants, contracts and invoices by monitoring revenues versus expenditures, preparing financial reports and encumbrances, submitting requests for funds, maintaining files, reviewing inputted invoices and conducting research. Reconciles the daily cash summary and prepares cash deposits by compiling and correcting reports, preparing check and wire transfers, delivering checks and cash for deposit and approving the draw down. Provides excellent customer service skills by assisting customers with billing concerns and reviewing accounts for accuracy. Requires the management of several competing work priorities in a time Reconciles the receivables balances. Performs analysis and judgment in accomplishing diversified duties. Exercises independent thinking within the limits of policies, standards, and precedents. Assists with audit work papers and other special projects and duties. Sits, stands, bends, and stoops in order to maintain files.

Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

One year experience. The preferred candidate will possess: Major coursework in Accounting 2 years experience in financial analysis, accounting, or related field Experience with spreadsheets Excellent customer service experience Experience or working knowledge of Advantage Financial Management System (AFMS)
