We are looking to add a Sr. Financial Accountant to join our Innovative Captive Strategies, PC team in Waukee, IA . Candidates thrive in our environment when they harness their collaborative mindset, strong interpersonal communication skills, and a love of learning.

Duties:

Present financial results, provide education, and facilitate discussion with captive Committees and Boards of Directors.
Collaborate with ICS technology team in identifying areas for improvement and/or automation, and play a leading role in testing and implementing solutions.
Liaison and foster relationships with hundreds of clients and professional partners, providing timely, accurate, and professional communication whenever required.
Compile and validate financial statement deliverables for our offshore captive management sister company and review the resulting financial statements and supplementary schedules for both yearend and interim valuation dates.
Prepare and review quarterly financial statements and supplementary financial information for onshore captive insurance companies.
Review monthly captive loss bills, identifying discrepancies and solving for root causes.
Monitor cash and investment balances, using professional judgment to project expected cash inflows/outflows, and execute sound treasury management when prudent.
Coordinate completion of actuarial reviews, tax return/form preparation, and financial statement audits.
Review and monitor compliance with bank covenants and insurance carrier collateral requirements.
Prepare operating budgets, tracking actual performance against budget, and reporting to captive Committees and Boards on overages and underages.
Monitor and implement new accounting, tax, and regulatory reporting requirements.
Assist in ICS annual profit planning (i.e. budgeting) process.
Track both new and total ICS revenue throughout the fiscal year, and validate the underlying data in calculating sales producer compensation.
Prepare ad hoc financial projections and data reconciliations.
Perform special projects as identified by the Vice President of Finance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.
Robust understanding of systems and data, including the ability to efficiently work with data, identifying root causes of problems and implementing/executing appropriate solutions.
Capable of exercising discretion in confidential matters and using professional judgment.
Ability to type and use a personal computer utilizing various software packages including, but not limited to, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Salesforce, Intactt, and other software systems.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to apply these skills in verbal or written form when interacting with clients, professional personnel, and team members.
Ability to perform multiple duties simultaneously during peak periods.
Ability to perform detailed analysis of financial documents, plan and implement financial/accounting procedures, and communicate procedures in a clear and accurate manner.
Ability and willingness to work extended hours when necessary.
Ability to utilize standard accounting principles.
Ability to travel domestically and internally approximately 20 to 30 days per year.
Must be knowledgeable of and comply with HMAs Client Privacy Policy, HIPAA regulations and E&O procedures and policies.
General Working Conditions:
General office environment exists.
Interacts on a daily basis with personnel throughout agency, financial institutions, and captive managers.
Some travel required.

Qualifications:

Education: Accounting degree and CPA or CFA designation strongly preferred.
Experience: Minimum three years accounting and/or auditing and/or tax experience, preferably with insurance experience.
