The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the mechanical design of electro-mechanical actuation systems. The engineer will have conceptual design input and responsibility as well as detail part level responsibility. This job description indicates the general nature and level of the work that is expected. It is not designed to contain a comprehensive or all-inclusive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities. Other duties may be required. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare sketches of ideas, detailed drawings, illustrations, artwork or blueprints, using drafting instruments or computer-aided design equipment. Direct and coordinate the fabrication of models or samples and the drafting of working drawings and specification sheets from sketches. Modify and refine designs, using working models, to conform to customer specifications, production limitations or changes in design trends. Coordinate the look and function of product lines. Confer with engineering, marketing, production ,sales departments, or with customers to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products. Present designs and reports to customers or design committees for approval and discuss need for modification Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods and market characteristics. Read publications, attend showings and study competing products, design styles and motifs, to obtain perspective and generate design concepts. Research production Specifications, costs, production material and manufacturing methods and provide cost estimates and itemized production requirements. Design graphic material for use as ornamentation, illustration or advertising on manufactured materials and packaging or containers. Review customer documents and requirements, and translate them into proposed mechanical designs Analyze design for manufacturability, life cycle of parts, cost / benefit analysis Request cost quotations and availability of parts or services from vendors Develop conceptual designs that can be used for technical proposals and costing Product testing and release of mechanical designs into the engineering system, update design as changes are made and communicate change to customer. Constantly review current and new technology to be able to apply the best solutions to customer requirements Communicate performance and timing requirements to vendors and enforce standards and delivery requirements Use tracking software to identify and monitor key milestones Use computer assisted software to design product and systems QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering 2 years of Design experience in the Aerospace Industry Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience Minimum of Five years Design/Mechanical Engineering experience Minimum of five years experience with mechanical systems (i.e., actuation, transmissions) Proficient use and understanding of GD&T Proficiency using computer based data entry systems such as MS Office Proficiency using engineering software such as MathCad or Pro/E SELEKKTUS, an affiliate of DRAKKAR Aerospace & Ground Transportation, is a partner of choice for your recruitment process.
