**Description:**
+ Work with ferrous and nonferrous metals, plastics, and other synthetic materials, such as carbon, rubber, wood, and fiber.
+ Grinding compounds, lubricants, coolants, solvents, air, acetylene, oxygen, cleaners and welding materials, machine parts, assemblies, etc.
+ Tools and equipment used are hand and power tools common to the trade. Computers and CNC equipment, all types of machine tools, precision measuring, layout and testing instruments and gauges. Heat treating equipment, acetylene torch, welding, and metalizing equipment. Material handling equipment such as hoists, fork trucks, cranes, and pickup trucks. Dynamic balancer, ultrasonic tester, Rockwell testing etc.
+ Duties and working procedures are to set up, operate, and maintain shop equipment such as CNC lathes, conventional lathes, milling machines, grinders, shapes, drill presses and assorted power hand tools. Plan, layout, fabricate and repair parts to close tolerance using precision measuring equipment. Work from blueprints, diagrams, sketches, handbooks, and general instructions. Heat temper and otherwise finish dies, tools, and machine parts. Disassemble, assemble, repair, replace parts and make precise adjustments to equipment. Diagnose trouble and use ingenuity in solving mechanical problems. Fill out reports and other necessary paperwork. Performs operator service (PM's, lubes) to equipment and report defects. Work in a safe and orderly manner using items such as job safety procedures and SPC methods.
