Our client, a regional property management company, is looking for an energetic, driven, and independent Commercial Property Accountant. Our client has a presence in multiple states up and down the eastern seaboard. They manage commercial properties that house retail stores, restaurants, kiosks, office space, and some attached apartments. With over 25 years of commercial management experience, they are expanding into South Florida and have an immediate need for a senior commercial property accountant.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$80k

Position Overview:

The Commercial Property Accountant will be responsible for over 1 million square feet of commercial space located in FL. The space will house multiple large restaurants, multiple major retailers, and some kiosks. The Commercial Property Accountant would ideally have experience dealing with retail, restaurants, and kiosks but not fully required. The Commercial Property Accountant will be working closely with the regional controller and the commercial property managers. The Commercial Property Accountant must be able to work with tight deadlines, be able to work across various departments located out of state, and must be able to tackle with ease a commercial property that is still under construction.

Responsibilities of the Commercial Property Accountant:

  • Set up and maintain the financials for this commercial property venture.
  • Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable process in conjunction with the property manager.
  • Perform monthly financial analysis: budget vs cost, variances, account reconciliation, cash, etc.
  • Assist with month and quarter-end document preparation.
  • Eventually be able to calculate rent using monthly sales information.
  • Manage all CAM-related billing and reporting.
  • Work with the Property Manager and regional controller on all lease agreements and negotiations.
  • Work on ad hoc projects as needed and requested by the Regional Controller.
Qualifications for the Commercial Property Accountant:
  • 3+ years of experience as a commercial property accountant with a portfolio of retail and restaurants.
  • Strong, advanced Excel skills.
  • Able to multitask effectively in a calm, cool, and collective manner.
  • Able to meet tight deadlines with ease.
  • Yardi, MRI, Timberline, Great Plains, or Lawson experience is preferred.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
