About the job The Data Acceleration team is looking for a Software Developer to join us in enabling SAS analytics to run faster and more securely by using DBMS capabilities, parallelism, open file formats, and running SAS analytics inside databases. You will write, test, and document code for SAS SpeedyStore, a multi-machine, multi-threaded analytic back-end running on Kubernetes pods using SingleStore for table storage. SAS SpeedyStore enables scalability to drive down costs, performance improvements by running table operations in SingleStore, and surfacing robust data management capabilities on customer data. Responsibilities Contribute to a largely C codebase for the SAS Viya platform, including SAS SpeedyStore. Design and develop high-quality, testable, scalable software solutions within established timelines while adhering to R&D best practices and processes. Design, develop, and execute test plans, scenarios, and processes. Interact with other developers to test program code to ensure software quality and functionality. Work collaboratively with the team to encourage quality as a critical design element in all work efforts. Participate in project scoping and scheduling; track progress of individual tasks and alert stakeholders of issues blocking or preventing completion of tasks. Be encouraged to participate in open-source projects on behalf of SAS. Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals. Embrace curiosity, passion, authenticity and accountability. Required qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field 5+ years of software development experience developing system-level software 5+ years of C or C++ software development 3+ years of Python software development 3+ years of Linux shell scripting Preferred Qualifications 2 years of developing software for use in Kubernetes 2 years of DBMS experience and SQL use 1 year of experience creating GitHub actions or workflows 1 year of experience with SAS programming Familiarity with multi-threaded programming Developing software using sprints and other Agile practices Additional competencies, knowledge and skills Adaptability: Maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work responsibilities or environment (e.g., people, processes, structure, or culture); adjusting effectively to change by exploring the benefits, trying new approaches, and collaborating with others to make the change successful.
