Procurement Category Specialist

Our Catalyst Technologies division is currently on the hunt for a new Procurement Category Specialist at our Conshohocken, PA location.

The Procurement Category Specialist is responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, services, andequipment to support the overall operational efficiency of our global productionteams, working closely with the engineering department. This person must beable to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while being able to effectivelycollaborate with multiple departments, such as operations, engineering, finance,sales, marketing, R&D, and supply chain. In addition, this person willinteract with all levels of the business from associates to the President ofthe company. This role is key in supporting the overall initiatives and goals ofEcovyst.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, management,and performance of capital project sourcing and developing sourcingstrategies for Indirect materials.Theability to assist with Direct as needed to meet business goals and objectivesis also critical.
  • Manages the assessment, selection, and development ofsuppliers (strategic and tactical) to meet cost, schedule, and performancegoals.
  • Managing supplier relationships, performing root cause analysesand implementing solutions, developing and monitoring supplier improvementplans.
  • Establishes a strong network and fosters collaboration with internalcustomers, suppliers, key stakeholders, and team members.
  • Be knowledgeable of current commodity marketconditions/trends, developing technologies, supply chain capacity/capability,customer requirements and logistics/supply/demand challenges, and how thesemight impact project purchases and maintenance supplies/maintenance services.
  • Responsible for contracting as needed, including themanagement of cost, schedule, and performance parameters. Developing contractspecifications, statements of work, and terms & conditions.
  • Develops bid packages, participates in bidders' conferenceswith engineering team, evaluates bids/proposals, negotiates contractprovisions, selects or recommends contractors, writes award, and managesresulting contracts.
  • Maintains vendor performance (direct and indirect) metrics andreports results to Global Procurement Manager.
  • Educate company employees on Procurement policies andprocedures while providing periodic training.
  • Connecting with plant personnel to discuss and offerproblem solving techniques to improve overall performance from an operationaland cost perspective.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Procurement,Supply Chain, or Business Administration.MBA is a plus.
  • APICS or ISM certification is a plus.
  • Minimum5 years proven procurement experience ideally in the chemical industry.
  • Theability to gather, analyze, and interpret transactional data andcommunicate business information (oral, written or graphical) to theteam.
  • Demonstratedtrack record of effective negotiation skills and strong business acumen.
    Experiencein developing strategies to effectively lead and consolidate spendcategories is required.
  • Excellentoral, written, and presentation communications skills.
    Datadriven with a very high level of analytical skills and attention todetail.
  • Exceptionalexperience in leading and executing end-to-end procurement projects.
    Demonstratedsuccess in leading and handling change while taking business objectivesinto account.
  • Strategicproblem solver with ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Strong knowledge andproficiency with navigating and creating purchase orders / reportswithin SAP.

    Requiresexpertise in operating Microsoft Office programs and demonstrates experiencewith advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, and pivot tables
  • Travelrequirement (Up to 5-15% or as needed).
