MACHINIST OPPORTUNITY for a highly seasoned experienced candidate with career growth opportunities in an excellent manufacturing environment and family atmosphere. This position is a member of the Machine Shop. The machinist will report directly to the Machine Shop Supervisor.

Primary Responsibilities

This position is described as a highly experienced Machinist with a background in Manufacturing and demonstrated machining expertise. Significant industry experience setting up and operating all manual machines with proven work experience to create machine programs and edit various programs (Mills, Lathes, Grinders).

  • Stays current on all training requirements.
  • Uses guarding provided and does all necessary pre-work checks.

Quality

  • Significant experience with inspecting parts and materials used in the production process are free from quality defects.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately use and ensure calibration of measuring tools to validate diameters ranging from .02 to 20 and liner dimensions up to 120 using Calipers, Bore gauges, Micrometers, Thread gauge, Depth gauge, Height gauges, Gage blocks, Pin gages, and Hardness testers. CMM experience is a plus.
  • Read and interpret schematics and drawings, including geometric dimensioning/tolerancing, communicating with Engineers as necessary.
  • Demonstrated skill sets that produces quality documentation, including non-conformance reporting.
  • Abide by the methods and procedures inherent in position as directed by management.
  • Strong computer, Microsoft Office skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Machine product to required specification
    • Demonstrated expertise in reading & processing 2-d detail prints.
    • Expertise with setting up and operating mills and/or lathes to produce a product that meets or exceeds design specifications.
    • Create and document advanced programs, where needed. Record proper set-up documentation.
  • Inspection and documentation
    • Inspection of in-process product is required. Ensure product meets requirements.
    • Adjust machine tools to meet specifications.
    • When required, document measurements on inspection sheets.
  • Knowledge of machine tools, equipment, materials, and inspection methods
    • Demonstrated expert level experience running jobs in work centers that they are familiar with, whether the work center is a lathe, mill, grinder, or other piece of equipment.
    • Demonstrated expert working knowledge of conventional machining techniques.
    • Demonstrated expertise with machining different materials including different grades of steel, aluminum, brass, PVC, UHMW, etc.
    • Demonstrated expert level working knowledge using traditional inspection equipment such as height gages, dial indicators, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Skills & Relevant Work Experience
    • Utilizes strong written and oral communication skills often and consistently. Clearly understands the department objectives. Is interactive with cross functional team members.
    • The employee shall have experience working in team environment to accomplish employees clear goals and objectives that support the overall departmental strategic plan. This employee also supports the corporate mission, vision, and core values specific to the department contributions. Works well with other various departments.
    • The employee shall be highly confident and competent to create set-ups and machine needed parts. When direction is required, the employee should be able to seek out the proper personnel that will provide the direction.
    • Understands business objectives, maintains a level of business integrity; proven success in facilities operations. Makes independent decisions under guidance of department management.
    • Demonstrates self-discipline in organizing tasking to plan and meet time and budgetary constraints, quality, and procedures.
    • Strong computer skills for time reporting and facility safety inspections.
    • Professional and positive attitude with the initiative to cooperate in a team work environment.
    • Expert knowledge and ability to use mechanics' tools.
    • Expert machining and fabrication knowledge.
    • Demonstrated experience handling multiple projects and meet/exceed deadlines.
    • Expert assembly knowledge of industrial equipment.
