Job Description

Tyto Athene is searching for a Security Specialist to support the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) PMA-290 Special Security Office (SSO). Responsible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) efforts within SCI spaces. Position is responsible for the day-to-day SCI security requirements of the facility to include access control, physical security, storage of material, inspections, records management, training, and documentation. Security Specialist reports to and receives direction from PMA-290 SSO on all facility matters and any security incidents.

Security Specialist is responsible for overseeing the facility's Access/Visitor Control procedures to include badging of employees/visitors (both U.S. and Foreign Nationals) and verifying security clearances through the Defense Information System for Security (DISS). Position coordinates the issuance of courier letters/cards. Position assists with the marking, storage, wrapping, and shipping of classified material. Position is responsible for managing the facility's key control program.

Physical security duties include:

  • Maintaining opening/closing user lists
  • Performing alarm tests
  • Managing Government Security Administration (GSA) approved containers (to include changing safe combinations).
  • Position is responsible for performing and maintaining an inventory of all classified holdings.
  • Position performs self-inspections of facilities and security files.
  • Security Specialist enforces standards for a secure environment for the protection of personnel, property, and information.
  • Position conducts Security, Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA) training, performs security briefings/debriefings, and provides training on facility opening/closing procedures.
  • Position is responsible for developing and maintaining Operational Security (OPSEC) Plans, Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), and Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) documents.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in DISS management.
Required Clearance:
  • A current TS/SCI clearance as the candidate requires immediate briefings into SCI. Candidate may be required to take a polygraph examination.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with NAVAIR SSO programs and managing NAVAIR secure facilities.
