WebSphere Administrator Location: Hybrid in Albany, NY Duration: 1 year with possible extension Compensation: Competitive rate (dependent on government standards) We are seeking an experienced WebSphere Administrator to join a project team working with the NYS Government. This individual will provide both development and post-implementation support, working closely with System Architects and Business Analysts to deliver client solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java development, server administration, and performance tuning for large-scale applications. Additionally, this role requires proficiency in IBM WebSphere, Oracle databases, and JEE frameworks. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with System Architects to understand business needs and develop solutions. Install, configure, and maintain IBM WebSphere Application Servers. Monitor and optimize JVM performance, including tuning heap size and managing garbage collection. Develop services around COTS APIs in the JEE framework. Handle server shell scripting in Windows and understand server configurations for large JEE applications. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 3 years of experience with Java and knowledge of JEE components such as EJB, JSP, and JMS. Experience with transactional databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2). Strong skills in performance tuning and server administration. Familiarity with clustering, load balancing, and web servers like Apache or Tomcat. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
