As a Barclays Tax Manager, you will have the opportunity to be the Tax specialist for France and be accountable for supporting the Head of Tax in France and the Barclays Europe Tax Director to ensure Barclays entities in France and other locations meet their tax filing/compliance obligations in an accurate, complete, and timely manner. Within the team there is an interesting and constantly changing mix of work. Time is spent on both business-as-usual activities and a variety of ad hoc projects, driven by changes within Barclays.

We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, 'anchor', days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). What will you be doing?

* Preparing tax returns/filings/calculations across different taxes (including, CIT, VAT, CVAE and other relevant taxes), and ensure tax payments are made to the French authorities* Assisting with the monitoring of changes to tax legislation, jurisprudence and disclosures of the tax authorities that could have an impact on Barclays* Assisting with the preparation of IFRS and French GAAP current and deferred taxes, instructing Financial Control France to book tax provisions, tax payments, refunds* Assisting with the preparation of other tax disclosures and regulatory disclosures related to tax, as necessary* Assisting with the provision of tax advice for ad hoc projects/transactions and new product approvals* Preparing transfer pricing report, the annual VAT audit trail report and FEC (computerized accounting file) report* Supporting local tax audits and any ad hoc queries from the tax authorities in France and other locations, as necessary* Evaluating, implementing, monitoring procedures/controls to mitigate tax risk and assist with the continuous improvement and documentation of tax compliance processes and controls

What we're looking for:

* French tax experience, preferably from working at a leading tax advisory firm and/or an institution in the financial services sector* Tax technical skills are required to assess the correct tax treatment of various issues with cross border aspects* Good knowledge and experience with tax accounting data to demonstrate ability to use and interpret financial data* Excellent time management and capability to work independently on several priorities and to tight deadlines

Skills that will help you in the role:

* Excellent educational background, preferably from a technical or quantitative discipline in Tax Law/Tax Accounting* A good knowledge of the complexities and nuances of Corporate and Investment Banking businesses* Experience of dealing with a broad range of taxes (corporate income tax, VAT, operational taxes, transfer pricing etc.) with particular focus on VAT* Fluent French with good English language skills and have the ability to communicate confidently
