We are seeking a reliable and responsible individual to join our team as a CDL Packer Driver. The CDL Packer Driver will operate packer on a daily collection route. They must have the ability to get in and out of the truck multiple times on the route. They must have the ability to lift, push, pull dumpsters and carts for collection.
** Primary Responsibilities/Essential Job Duties:**
- Inspect trucks prior to beginning routes to ensure safe operating condition.
- Lift, push, pull dumpsters and carts for collection.
- Sort items set out for recycling and throw materials into designated truck compartments.
- Lift, push, pull dumpsters and carts for collection
- Drive trucks, following established routes, through residential streets or alleys or through business or industrial areas.
- Operate equipment that compresses collected refuse.
- Dump refuse or recyclable materials at disposal sites.
- Dismount garbage trucks to collect garbage and remount trucks to ride to the next collection point.
- Refuel trucks or add other fluids.
- Fill out defective equipment reports.
- Communicate with dispatchers concerning delays, unsafe sites, accidents, equipment breakdowns, or other maintenance problems.
- Check road or weather conditions to determine how routes will be affected.
- Clean trucks or compactor bodies after routes have been completed.
- Conducts pre-trip/post-trip inspections and complete logs
** PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS**
This position is described as moderate to heavy physical activity. Must have the ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including but not limited to sitting, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, and lifting) Employees are subject to weather elements daily, i.e. heat, sun, rain, snow, wind, etc.
** REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE**
- High School diploma (GED may be considered)
- Class A or B CDL
- Some previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is usually needed.
- Waste industry experience, a plus.
