Location Profile: Located in Gardena, California, Permaswage designs and manufactures separable and permanent fluid fittings and installation tooling for aerospace and defense applications. Position Summary: The Continuous Improvement and Manufacturing Engineering Manager oversees the entire process control function of the organization including Manufacturing Engineering, Continuous Improvement, and CNC Programming. This position manages the Capital Expenditure Budget for the plant and is accountable for annual cost saving improvements. This position resolves manufacturing problems using modern problem solving tools such as Six Sigma, Lean, A3, and Root Cause Corrective Action. This position is expected to be the subject matter expert on the organizations processing capabilities and technology. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Direct management of both Manufacturing Engineers (exempt employees) and Programmers (non-exempt employees) in performance of: Creation and management of Bills of Materials and Manufacturing RoutingsCreation and management of CNC Programs for use in both Tooling and Fitting manufactureCreation and management of manufacturing Work Instructions (DWIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Creation and revision of Forging Dies, CNC tooling, CNC holding fixtures, and custom gagesManagement of the Statistical Process Control system in use by shop-floor personnel The planning, facilitation, and management of strategic projects throughout the plant and coordination or acquisition of resources to support these projects to meet corporate targets. This role includes actions such as: Creation, submittal, and management of CAPEXs for the purposes of new equipment acquisitions, equipment overhauls, and new product or process integrationsCoordination of equipment installations, including layouts, managing vendors and contractors, supporting subordinates, and financial budget managementManagement of the project pipeline with monthly escalation to corporate for reviewPersonnel management to achieve corporate goals Identifying financial savings and supporting the various continuous improvement activities throughout the plant, including: Cost-control projects such as consumable CNC tooling, raw materials usage in product manufacture, and variable costs including labor and overhead costs.Process improvements through the use of both new and existing tools; including Lean, Six Sigma, the Kaizen approach, A3 problem solving, and Root-cause problem solving Supporting various quality assurance and improvement initiatives from the standpoint of manufacturing processes, technologies, and Methods Engineering practices. This includes investigations related to internal discrepancies, customer corrective actions and returns, and in the application of both product and process knowledgeSupport the management of New Product Integration with respect to the manufacturability, process control, equipment capability, supporting personnel requirements, and the completion of data (i.e. BOM, RTR, etc.) setup in ERPAct as the subject matter expert for PCC Senior management relative to Permaswage's processes, core manufacturing competencies, and identified opportunities for future improvementsCreate and make high-level presentations of both information and data to persons both internal and external of the organization, and be able to answer detailed questions pertaining to information Qualifications: Ability to interpret and create Engineering drawingsAbility to interpret, analyze, and draw conclusions from complex dataAbility to interpret technical procedures and governmental or inter-organizational regulationsAbility to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problemsAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formHigh comfort level with ERP systemsHigh level of emotional intelligence when working with a variety of different individuals, including customers, vendors/suppliers, consultants, PCC Senior management, and shop-floor employeesA basic understanding of project financials, product/process costing, and cost analysisA high-level of reasoning and problem solving ability Education and Experience Requirements: A Minimum of a Four-year degree in an Engineering discipline5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in an Aerospace or similar manufacturing environmentA thorough understanding of manufacturing processes; including CNC technologies, forming/forging processes, painting/coating processes, ERP system interactions, and chemical surface-treatmentsA track-record of successful high-impact projects, including new equipment installations, Lean/Six-Sigma projects, Kaizens, and RCCAsExtensive project management and team management experienceElevated skill level with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Visio/Process Flow Diagrams, and MS ProjectExperience with Engineering modeling and drawing software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, ProE, or similar/*generated inline style */ All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran. /*generated inline style */ For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $77,600 to $116,400 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors.
