Position Summary

The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the People Operation Sector including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Process hiring, termination, transfer, promotion, demotions, etc. in human resource information system.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask, manage multiple constituents and multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and handle confidential information.
  • Ability to manage workload in a constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to function independently in a high-volume fast paced corporate environment.
  • Strong internal and external customer focus
  • Advanced knowledge of MS office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedures and systems.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate, influence and negotiate.
  • Exceptionally strong relationship management and teamwork skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate ability to establish credibility, trust and partnership at all levels of the organization.
  • Creativity, innovation and the ability to think 'out-of-the-box' in problem solving, organizational diagnosis, and solution generation.
  • Sound business acumen.
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • Basic knowledge of HR law and practices.
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred
