The UxD Leader directs the design and evaluation of technologies that enable customer end-users to use products with ease. Develops methodologies and procedures used in the testing, analysis, and investigation of products. Ensures products meet high standards of usability and design excellence. Determines specifications for user interfaces and internal structures for products in development. Responsible for delivering usable (effective, efficient, satisfying, & safe) interface designs across Hardware (HW)/Software (SW) products through applying a user-centered, iterative design process. Orchestrates the Collection of behavioral data from end users & customers to identify problems, and/or insights that impact product design and development. Employs a broad range of data collection and analytical techniques such as Survey construction/analysis, User Interface (UI) prototype development, usability testing, focus group facilitation, and qualitative/observational methods, ethnography, & quantitative statistical data analysis. Integrates Human Factors Engineering principles to the design & development process, accounting for perceptual, physical, and cognitive abilities in the usage of products & services.

Responsibilities:

Provides direct and ongoing leadership for a team of experienced individual contributors creating complex user experience design solutions and coordinating projects for products and service lines.Manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated, and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.Communicates project status and escalates issues to direct managers, program managers, and internal and external development partners.Manages relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs; ensures that team members are effectively communicating and collaborating with outsourced resources.Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions opportunities.Provides people management for assigned team members, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; ensures that proper knowledge and career development tools are in place to support ongoing team member and process development.Understanding of Human Factor issues and principles as they are applied to the design and development process.Understanding of business goals and objectives as they relate to customer use cases and solutions.Skills:

Interpersonal skills.Communication skills.Possesses strong product/technology/industry knowledge.Experience:

Typically, 8+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.Typically requires 2+ years managerial/leadership experience.
