Job Title Sustaining Engineer Location Sedalia, MO About Us The Sedalia Missouri plant is a division of Ingersoll Rand (IR) that manufactures blowers, vacuum systems, and engineered systems for industrial applications with a multi-brand and multi-channel strategy. Our products are designed by industry leading engineers and manufactured to high standard of specifications. Our knowledgeable team takes metal castings and other raw materials and turns them into the high-performing products we are known for around the world. Our Engineering team creates value for our customers by creating innovative products in collaboration with cross-functional teams within our global organization. Responsibilities Work with PD Blower, Blower Package and Vacuum Package product lines to improve design, performance, and/or manufacturing process. Provide technical guidance to team members including Sourcing, Operations, Customer Service, and Marketing with respect to product-based education and decisions. Produce cost effective designs, complex layouts assemblies, detail parts drawings, and generate associated bills of materials. Work closely with Customer Service, Field Service, and/or Manufacturing personnel to resolve issues regarding legacy and new products currently in production. Available for hands-on troubleshooting in the manufacturing plant on short notice. Evaluate existing products based on feedback from manufacturing, quality, or assembly to assess functionality and determine product effectiveness for customers. Support Engineering efforts on critical projects which includes idea development, prototype, project execution, and plant/business system implementation. Collect product data via reports, manufacturing, assembly, and testing. Work with team to standardize product offering through product rationalization and new product development. Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other related engineering discipline. Experience with rotating machinery is preferred Must have excellent mechanical skills and knowledge of good assembly and testing practices. Must be capable to work safely in a fast paced, creative, results-oriented atmosphere. Strong collaboration and problem solving skills with cross functional team. Experience in 3D modeling software preferred (i.e. Solidworks, Inventor, and/or PTC Creo). Analytical skills with excellent communication and organizational skills. Must demonstrate a team work ethic and a consistently positive attitude. Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements Ability to stand for long periods of time. Work environment includes inside and outside of an office environment.
