Summary:

The Aerospace Business Unit is responsible for Aerospace applications with a global responsibility for Sales, Manufacturing, Business development, Product, and Process Development. The Business Unit operates in a large number of countries and markets, all over the world and with a customer portfolio that includes all major players in the Aerospace industry. Our business is fully customer focused, with products specifically designed for an engine / airframe application and then produced in small quantities and small lots on highly flexible equipment. Extreme product range fragmentation, complex product design, very high-quality standards and traceability requirements are the peculiarity of our Business Unit. In Hanover, PA we produce Rings and Seals for the Aerospace and Industrial markets.

Role & Responsibility:

To manage, analyze and facilitate all packing and shipping activities including processing shop orders, maintaining supply levels and preparation of records and reports

Manage hourly union production employees across 3-shifts

Reports to Supply Chain Leader

Key Responsibilities (include and are not limited to):

Ensure safety, quality, cost and delivery as key performance indicators.

Manage the receiving, handling, storing, picking, and packing activities of the warehouse, ensuring that quality standards are met or exceeded.

Supervise hourly employees engaged in receiving from shops and stocking finished piston rings, shaft seals, and related components.

Supervise the processing of shop orders and preparation of necessary packing papers, withdrawing from stock, packing, and preparing orders for shipment.

Review customer orders, production schedules, etc. to determine packing and shipping requirements; plans, schedule and assign work.

Ensure all safety regulations are understood and followed.

Oversee and manage logistics for transporting products to customers and company facilities.

Communicate with drivers and air partners to ensure efficient delivery of packages.

Track job progress to see that work is performed efficiently, that specifications are met, and packing papers are in order.

Reassign work as necessary to overcome bottlenecks, meet established schedules and adjust for altered orders.

Communicate with sales and engineering office, shop supervision, and traffic personnel on problems regarding scheduling, special packages, inventory levels, etc.

Review sub-contracted packing and shipping to ensure it meets customer specifications.

Responsible for unusual packaging requirements, recommendation of special shipping containers, military package testing necessary, etc.

Responsible for ordering packing materials; maintains sufficient supply of all required packing materials are on hand, ordering replenishments as needed.

Responsible for maintenance of finished ring storage area.

Inspect storage areas to see that rings, are properly stored and identified.

Determine availability of specific rings required to fill orders.

Coordinate with Production Control, shop, and Inspection on needs for specific parts to fill orders.

Direct storage of cancelled and hold orders.

Coordinate with Inventory Manager on maintenance of inventory records and preparation of reports.

Identifies and communicates any inventory issues to the Inventory Manager in regard to packing and shipping of customer orders.

Backup to Inventory Manager.

Qualifications:

Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

High School Diploma or GED required.

Associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred in supply chain or business-related field.

Experience in managing and inspiring direct reports.

Union experience preferred.

Minimum 3-years' experience managing inventory and direct reports: 3

Experience working in a manufacturing warehouse environment.

Skills, Knowledge & Other Requirements:

Prior experience with warehouse management and logistics.

Highly proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Qualified candidates should have experience working with an automated ERP system.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

Strong oral and written communication skills and high confidence in providing recommendations.

Must have an inquisitive nature to understand how factory processes impact results to effect change.

Knowledge of lean techniques.

Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees.

Ability to deliver effective feedback, both written and verbal.
