Job Summary - Manufacturing Engineer/Tooling:
Responsible for the selection of tooling / work holding for equipment and in planning the manufacturing process for parts and assemblies in a machining environment. This position will transition into production support and process improvement. Work is of the technical nature where independent judgment is used and decisions are made within the limits of general industry practices and policies. Works with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions - Manufacturing Engineer/Tooling:
  • Analyzes machining equipment for the best method of manufacture
  • Specifies cutting tools, work holding equipment and processes to produce a part, or evaluate processes in assigned areas
  • Directs the design and construction of tools and equipment
  • Maintain all design and documentation for all cutting tools, fixtures and work holding
  • Defines and conducts DOE trials for new cutting methods and/or tools for process improvements
  • Defines metrics to accurately measure machine performance
  • Controls parameters and recipes for existing and new products
  • Develops and documents new tools, equipment, and processes
  • Participates in teams and cross-functional groups
  • Provides technical assistance and support to manufacturing operations
  • Analyses product variation, plans and implements process capability improvements
  • Develops statistically based manufacturing control strategies
  • Develops and implements productivity improvements
  • Evaluates and implements new technologies
  • Performs special projects as required
  • Familiar with developing, and creating PFMEAs
  • Understands IFAs mandatory commitment to ISO 140001
Education - Manufacturing Engineer/Tooling:
  • College graduate with AS/BS degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical or Machine Tool Technology, equivalent work experience maybe considered.
Experience - Manufacturing Engineer/Tooling:
  • Knowledge and understanding of CNC related controls (Siemens 840D preferred)
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, materials and methods of manufacturing
  • 3-5 years of experience in automated equipment, tool design, tool engineering, and/or related functions
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and drawings
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems
Specific Skills - Manufacturing Engineer/Tooling:
  • High level of analytical ability for complex problem solving
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of tooling and tooling design
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
Desired Education/Skills/Experience - Manufacturing Engineer/Tooling:
  • Familiar with Tier I and/or Tier II automotive supplier specifications
  • Ability to read, write, and/or speak German
  • Ability to program and troubleshoot Siemens based controllers
  • Familiar with milling, turning and assembly processes
