DescriptionJOB SUMMARY: The Nursing Clinical Services Director practices within the professional boundaries established by the Board of Nursing. The Nursing Clinical Services Director is responsible for the daily operations of the clinical nursing department. Ensuring that each department's goals are met. Specific duties include activities to ensure safe and high-quality patient care, staff coaching, mentoring, and development; effective and efficient utilization of staff, supplies, and equipment, and promoting evidence-based practice and ongoing performance improvement. The Nursing Clinical Services Director collaborates and works in conjunction with the AVP of Nursing, physicians, and other team members of leadership. SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:Manages operations for clinical support activities for nursing staff across the department.Fosters effective communication, collaboration, and accountability between clinic staff, teams, and other departments.Maintains effective nursing staff coverage for all clinic locations within the budget.Leads purposeful patient, staff, and environment of care rounding.Participates in career mapping and planning for ongoing development/promotion of staff.Role models and promote the achievement of department goals for staff development and retention.Provides meaningful feedback and recognition to staff via daily interactions, routine meetings, and formal evaluations.Documents the performance of nurses, including staff development; assists with performance evaluations and counsels nurses on unsatisfactory performance.Participates in key operational meetings involving infusion, pharmacy, quality, and safety, etc.Addresses personnel and administrative issues and critically problem-solve.Investigate patient and employee occurrences, variances, and near misses and provide follow-up.Coordinates staffing for the assigned team as well as communication of upcoming needs and resources through assignment of roles, time off approval and denial based on team needs, and monitoring and reporting of attendance of team.Provides accountability and adherence to controlled substances policy and procedures including but not limited to: record keeping, waste disposal, discrepancies, audits, and staff compliance in collaboration with Infusion and Pharmacy.Authors, reviews and revises clinical policies and procedures to reflect evidence-based practice.Ensures proper availability of equipment and supplies through communication and assistance with ordering and continuous monitoring of inventory. Inventories medical and office supplies.Determines work procedures; prepares work schedules, expedites workflow, evaluates, counsels and discusses with AVP of Nursing any performance issues of team members.Ensures proper utilization of time by team members and approves payroll ensuring staff appropriately clock in and out while monitoring overtime.Improves productivity and reduces waste by streamlining processes.Actively involved in hiring, onboarding, training, and evaluation of new team members. Ensures all team members have completed assigned training and competencies.Assists with the orientation and supervision of students rotating through the nursing area.Monitors patient flow and takes an active role in improving patient experience and improvement activities of the organization.Facilitates teaching of new information regarding medical practice, EMR, policy and procedure, and any other relevant material to team members.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIESProvides on-site support to staff who provide patient care and services to all patients, including coordination of care with physicians, other staff members, and ancillary services when needed.Resolve and handle patient grievances.Evaluate and implement new and existing programs/protocols, development, and implementation of new policies and procedures.Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all service lines.Participates in Quality Improvement Projects, Process Improvements, and other Ad Hoc Projects as assigned. OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: This position will require additional hours outside the normal 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday work schedule, and travel to all satellite clinics. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Clinic nursing team members including RNs and Clinical Assistants.EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE and REGISTRATION: BSN required from an accredited College of Nursing required; Master's Degree preferredBLS and ACLS CertificationSpecialty certification is required within 6 months of eligibilityValid and current Arkansas state nursing licenseValid Arkansas Driver's License EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: Minimum 7 years actively practicing as a registered nurseMinimum 3 years of leadership experience required, 5+ years preferred.Skills in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing staff support and patient care.Extremely proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc.Expertise in IV therapy skills and injectionsREASONING ABILITY:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians and other departmental personnel, and outside agencies on a frequent basis while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.Maintains a positive attitude and close working relationship with the AVP of Nursing and leadership across all departments.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
