Design and Client Relations: •Identify design criteria and execute designs that exceed client expectations. •Act as a direct interface with clients and manage the processing of plans through public agencies. 2. Business Development: •Engage in marketing, business development, and lead generation. •Must bring an existing client portfolio (book of business). 3. Administrative and Financial Oversight: •Handle invoicing, budget monitoring, proposals, change orders, and timecard approvals. •Attend required meetings and ensure the engineering team’s administrative tasks are completed efficiently. 4. Project and Team Management: •Develop schedules, supervise the design team, and coordinate with the Sr. Project Manager. •Oversee the preparation of plans, technical reports, and other deliverables. •Ensure work quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with client and agency standards. 5. Agency Coordination and Compliance: •Directly manage communication with public agencies and ensure design compliance. •Resolve design issues and ensure plans meet agency requirements. 6. Consultant and Internal Coordination: •Coordinate with external consultants (e.g., geotechnical, landscape, plumbing) and internal teams (e.g., survey, mapping). •Initiate project phase meetings and conduct site investigations. 7. Site Management: •Visit construction sites to ensure plan conformity and resolve discrepancies. •Respond to RFIs (Requests for Information) during construction phases. 8. Team Leadership and Development: •Provide workload forecasts and communicate resource needs. •Conduct staff reviews, provide coaching/training, and ensure proper project time tracking. 9. Budget and Billing Management: •Track project budgets, provide billing instructions, and manage change orders. •Implement new ideas and procedures to improve efficiency and quality. 10. Professional Development: •Represent the company in meetings with clients and agencies. •Attend seminars and classes, applying new knowledge to enhance processes. Supervisory Responsibilities: •Supervise 1-5 employees within the Engineering Team, including responsibilities for interviewing, training, and performance management. Qualifications: •Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent with 10 years of civil engineering design experience. •Leadership Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a lead design role with team management experience. •Licensing: EIT certification required; PE license or eligibility to obtain within two years. •Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D preferred. •Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and team-building abilities. Physical Demands and Work Environment: •Primarily office-based with occasional site visits. •Must be able to occasionally lift/move up to 10 pounds. •Work environment is typically quiet with occasional exposure to outdoor weather.
