Financial Aid Assistant- Temporary

This is a full-time, temporary assignment through April 30, 2025.

Position Purpose

Serves as a primary liaison with prospective and current students/families throughout the financial aid process. This position provides exceptional verbal and written engagement on all matters related to the financial aid program. This position provides management of travel and related expenses for financial aid students, conducts a high level of data entry and supports other operational needs of the financial aid office.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serves as primary contact for applicants and current students/families with questions received via telephone and email in a timely, accurate, professional and welcoming manner regarding the financial aid program.
  • Performs accurate data entry into systems for all processes.
  • Coordinate student travel to and from campus during school breaks.
  • Responsible for assisting financial aid students on purchasing school supplies and manages reimbursement when necessary.
  • Prepare and/or proof financial aid correspondence, revising and editing documents as appropriate both to applicants, current students and to alumni/ae in written and electronic formats.
  • Confidently works in Microsoft Office at an intermediate level; especially in Excel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including participation in strategic initiatives to improve financial aid operations.
Position Requirements

Education
  • College degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
Experience
  • Financial management experience is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a customer service setting is preferred.
  • Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting is preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Respect for diversity of identities and experiences, an orientation toward equity and inclusion, and cultural competency in all aspects of Academy life.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a strong customer focus.
  • A strict adherence to confidential policies is required.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Slate preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional applications as needed.
  • High degree of organizational skills with the ability to be flexible and multi-task with accuracy.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions, maintain a professional demeanor and restraint at all times, including stressful situations.
