Position Title: Senior Manager, Engineering - PotatoPosition Type: Regular - Full-TimePosition Location: Oakbrook TerraceRequisition ID: 28695At McCain Foods we know the importance that food plays in people's lives - the power it has to uplift and bring people, families, businesses and communities together.The Senior Manager, Engineering will lead and provide leadership and strategy development for successful capital planning, portfolio development, and project implementation of annual capital plan of $150 million to $200 million per year for the North America region, our largest region at McCain. You will support all manufacturing plants in the region (15) through the full lifecycle of engineering practices in support of these initiatives and strategies from evaluation through execution. Leading a team of engineers, this person will also be responsible for facilitating global/local knowledge transfer and sharing within their team and across engineering for skill building, mentoring and talent management.Specifically, the Senior Manager role encompasses the following areas of responsibility:Work with assigned manufacturing plants for the development of annual and 5 year project portfolioOversee project engineering and project managers for assigned plants to assure successful implementation of assigned project workAssure McCain Engineering best practices, technical standards and specifications and project management methodologies are usedForward improvement recommendation for standards, specification, and management approach as appropriateProject Design, Contracting, And Construction ManagementProject Development And Capital Budget ProposalsEvaluate, Contract, And Manage Consulting EngineersEngineering Personnel Development And ConsultationResponsibilities of the Role: Lead and provide sapient leadership within the Technical and Engineering disciplines within McCain operations. Influence key decision makers, operations, manufacturing, technical services, quality and supply chain personnel in plants via providing policy direction and guidance.Interface with Finance and Risk Management relative to the Capital Plan, cash flow associated with capital projects, and overall spend relative to engineering projects Define, leverage and coordinate the execution of the Operations Technical and Network Strategy.Coordinate knowledge management and Global/local knowledge transfer and sharing. Transfer best practices for capital project execution and capital management, and overall project management practicesCodify Engineering standards and practices and be the custodian for these across the value chain on issues such as preferred equipment manufacturers and suppliers, contractor standards, and coordination with Procurement on lowest Total Cost of Ownership for equipment and capital projects.Facilitate skill building support, mentoring and talent management across the technical and engineering disciplinesDesign, Operation, Maintenance Subject Matter Expert (SME) for food plant engineering operationsDevelopment and Use of Best Practices for engineering and project managementSupport Development of Basis Of Design (BOD) Documentation And Functional DescriptionDevelop Capital Budget Proposals For Evaluation As A Capital Appropriation including: Engage Consulting Engineers and OEMs for AssistanceEvaluate, Develop, And Mentor Facility Personnel in Engineering and MaintenanceKnowledge and experience with capital managementProven skills in Operations Division core competencies (Analytical/Problem Solving, Results Driven, Innovative, Team Player/Interpersonal Skills, Intellect, Resilient/Flexible/Adaptable, Leadership Skills)Strategic leadership and thought leadership capability.Project management skills and methodologies.This position will be accountable for: 5 year capital plan development and maintenanceCapital Project network strategy developmentCapital development and project executionSuM based vertical project start-upsExecution of project(s) cash flowAdherence to project(s) budget(s) and project schedule(s)You will bring: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; Master of Business Administration or Master of Science in Engineering desirableThe ability to travel 30-50% throughout the US and CanadaA minimum of 10+ years of engineering experience in the Food and Beverage products manufacturing, processing and packagingPrior engineering leadership experience within a manufacturing or plant environment is a strong plusStrong organizational and leadership skills; Ability to educate, develop, and mentor direct engineering, project management and administrative staffAbility to communicate with all levels of employees, customers, consultants, OEMs, and outside agencies; Polished written and verbal skillsDepth of knowledge of project management, budgeting, cash flow, negotiation skill, problem solving, including understanding of engineering systems, technologies, and operations within food manufacturing plantsUnderstanding of project portfolio stage gates and project management methodologies for project portfolio management and planning and executionCuriosity to analyze programs and issues, draw logical conclusions, and assign a course of actionMcCain Foods is an equal opportunity employer.
