A leading medical school with a rich tradition of excellence is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Research Systems Administrator to join their Bioinformatics Group

Job Summary:

The Junior Research Systems Administrator will play a crucial role in supporting the research computational infrastructure of a vital research group. Responsibilities include managing and maintaining Linux and Windows servers, enterprise data storage, and web servers, all while prioritizing IT security and data integrity.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain Linux and Windows server environments.
  • Administer enterprise data storage solutions.
  • Maintain and administer web servers.
  • Implement and maintain IT security best practices.
  • Update and maintain storage systems, virtualization systems, SLURM cluster systems, IT support ticketing systems, and operating systems.
  • Perform system backups and ensure data integrity.
  • Collaborate with researchers and other IT staff to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Information Technology, etc.) and 1-2 years of experience;
  • OR Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 2-4 years of experience;
  • OR a combination of related education and experience in IT administration.
  • Strong understanding of IT security principles and best practices.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows server administration.
  • Experience with enterprise data storage solutions.
  • Experience with web server administration.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
