Speech - Language Pathologist

Position Overview
As a School-Based SLP, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with communication disorders within an educational context. Your responsibilities will include assessment, intervention, collaboration, and advocacy to enhance students communication skills and overall academic success.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostic Evaluations

and Assessment :
Conduct thorough

diagnostic evaluations to assess students speech and language abilities.
Identify communication

disorders and determine their impact on educational performance.
Individualized

Intervention :

Develop and implement

individualized treatment plans for students with speech and language

needs.
Collaborate with

teachers, parents, and other school personnel to create effective

intervention strategies.
Provide direct therapy

services to students individually or in small groups.
IEP Development and

Monitoring :

Write Individualized

Education Programs (IEPs) for eligible students.
Participate in IEP

meetings, ensuring that goals and objectives align with students needs.
Regularly monitor

progress and adjust interventions as necessary.
Collaboration and

Consultation :

Work closely with

classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service

providers.
Provide consultation to

teachers regarding classroom strategies and accommodations.
Collaborate with other

professionals to address students holistic needs.
Student Caseload

Management :

Manage a caseload of

students with diverse speech and language profiles.
Coordinate services

with Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) as needed.
Adapt interventions

based on individual student requirements.
Student Age Range and

Grade Levels :

Serve students

primarily in middle school and elementary settings.
Address a wide range of

communication disorders, including but not limited to:

Traumatic Brain Injury

(TBI)
Non-verbal

communication challenges
Autism Spectrum

Disorder (ASD)
Specific Language

Impairment (SLI)
Articulation

difficulties

Assistive Technology

Integration :

Utilize assistive

technology, such as iPads for Augmentative and Alternative Communication

(AAC).
Collaborate with the

AAC Coordinator to support students communication needs.
Behavioral Management

and Communication with Guardians :

Understand the schools

approach to behavioral management.
Maintain open

communication with parents and guardians via phone and email.
Attend to students

behavioral and emotional well-being.
Health and Emergency

Preparedness :

Be aware of the

schools procedures for medical emergencies.
Respond appropriately

in emergency situations.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education and Licensure :

Hold a full

Speech-Language Pathology License with CCCs (Certificate of Clinical

Competence).

Work Details
Location : Various Schools in the Seattle Area

Work Hours : Full-time

Contract Dates : Approximately August

26, 2024, to June 17, 2025
